CARY GRANT'S Unforgettable "Night in Havana" • SUSPENSE Radio Thriller

Originally titled "The Black Path of Fear," Night in Havana sounds more appropriate especially with Cuba's Original "Sloppy Joe's" being a key part of the story. Cary Grant stars in this one, and it's a pretty good episode. Unfortunately the audio quality isn't very good but it's the best available, which is sometimes the case. Very few of the surviving records are pristine. Years ago, before this particular recording was cleaned up it wasn't listenable at all. Even though this story was produced a couple of more times with different actors (and with better sound quality) I chose to present the one with Cary Grant as it makes the story more interesting. This is another episode from the great year for Suspense broadcast on March 7, 1946

A little damaged but easily listenable. A great episode. I think the original story was by Cornell Woolrich. Wish we had the full original version and not just the Armed Forces cut-down, but we take what we can get with these treasures.

I have another version uploaded (titled "Black Path of Fear" with Brian Donlevy) that sounds much better, but it's hard to beat Cary Grant.I know how you feel about the AFRS records, but in many cases they're the only copies that exist. Woolrich had a good number of stories produced by Suspense.

Audio a little rough, but pretty listenable once you get the hang of it! And now, no more Cary Grant episodes. 😟
