Suspension Part 3 of this 8 video series - The Bitubo race suspension project continued. The second thing I changed was the rear shock. We removed the OEM unit and replace it with the high end XXZ Bitubo unit with a spring matched to my weight.
This particular unit is fitted with high and low speed damping adjustment for both compression and rebound. The preload adjuster is remote and can easily be adjusted without any tools.
As with the forks, the original suspension on this bike is the DDC version. So this upgrade required that we disconnect the DDC and then make a choice between living with the warning light because of that disconnection, or flashing the ECU to remove the DDC from the system completely.
I chose the latter and will incorporate this into the next ECU flash using the system we purchased from Shane Kinderis at S1KRacing.
NOTE - Disconnecting the DDC does not affect the motorcycle in any way beyond displaying a warning light.
