Hi Robot I replied about 6 months ago to this but today took the plunge: dry day for outside work and no work to go to and fitted new rear shocks: not this brand but YSS with top adjustment rather than at the bottom. I needed an impact driver to loosen the top nuts as my 2010 model only had a slotted top rather than a flat to put an adjustable spanner on. Other than that nice and straightforward. Without your video though I don’t think I’d have contemplated the job so thanks a lot again. Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Thanks for the info.. Great video .. But with the price of a Vespa, the stock shocks should already be some VERY good shocks.. The ride is super important, especially since gov'ts are broke and not repairing roads like they used to.. Also, I have noticed several videos that you mention people may seem to want a lower seat height. I am 6'4" and am looking for a TALLER seat height.. Plus I like to sit up higher to get a better view when I am riding.. I am a casual/recreational rider, and am NOT interested in a low center of gravity to go around corners at a higher speed.. Please don't forget about us taller scooter riders..

Thank you so much, following your great instructions makes many assemblys so much easier :-) Just assembled All 3 Bitubos following your instructions. Too bad weather in Finland is nearing winter and soon have to pause driving for too many months!

Cheers Robot I have no garage so have to work on the driveway but you make stuff look so easy to do. I aim to change the rear shocks first on my 2010 GTS 300 SS as they have originals on and I ride with a pillion and top box and they’ve covered 27000 miles . Thinking of an upgrade rather than stock 👍🏻

WATCH OUT - the spacers are mounted the wrong way around. if you check titubo instructions, the have to be on the inside on the left and on the outside on the right looking at the Vespa from behind!
@Matthew-tt8oq19 күн бұрын
I know. I found this out too! In Robot's video, the installation for the larger spacer for the left rear shock is shown wrong. It should be placed on the inside (between right side of shock bottom and the inside of the shock mount saddle) instead of the outside as shown. (Similar to the offset on stock shock). I learned the hard way and had to reinstall after checking with Bitubo's diagram in the included instructions. After correcting, it looks straighter too. Additionally, doing it the other way brought the shock coil dangerously close to the rear tire! They should reshoot this part of the video, or, at least include a correction in the description. All these comments and no one else recognized this?

Thanks Robot. These videos have come just in time as I am considering upgrading my suspension. Would the ride be improved even further if the OEM rubber bushings were replaced with the better quality Clauss alternatives?
@VespaMotorsport4 жыл бұрын
Glad it helped. The Clauss buffers are definitely high quality, but you may find them to give a stiffer ride. Probably more geared towards performance/race style riding as opposed to cushy cruising. Just depends on what you're after....

a very helpful tutorial, thanks Robot. Now, can somebody, who happened to upgrade their Vespa, share some thoughts and experiences? Thinking of upgrading my GTS 300, only 10k km on the clock, but the rear shocks feel weird and the front is deff too stiff. Looking for a comfy travel ride :))

Are you going to a video on upgrading the rear shock on a Liberty 150? these stock rear shocks are horrible!

Can you tell me how/where to adjust the rebound in the shock absorver with ginipeg? I bought it for my vespa gts 2010 and bitubo instructions don't say anything about it...

Hi Robot. Thanks for all videos. Very informative and helpful topics. Question though, amongst the aftermarket shocks - Zelioni, Bitubo and Ohlins, which one would you recommend for the modern 150 Vespas? Thanks!

Hi Robot! Love your videos. I’m putting together a list of custom parts I may have you guys build a custom vespa for me. I’m wondering if you know if you can get the Ohlins stx36 with piggyback for the rear on a 23’ super sport gtx hpe? I have the front on my list but hoping its possible to get ther rears with piggyblacks. Thanks!

I would love to see you do a video on the proper set up of pre-load. I recently put the Bitubos on my '18 BV350 and find myself continually chasing away front wheel wobble. I am a bigger guy on a scooter so my Bitubo's are cranked down quite a bit. Thanks. Stay safe.
@leewatkeys90653 жыл бұрын
Hi David I had chronic front wheel wobble on my 300 GTS super sport 2010. Changed the tyres from Michelin to Pirelli Diablo Rosso and it stopped it, can even ride one handed at an indicated 70mph. Handling generally is night and day better than the Michelins

I’ve been considering fitting Bitubos to my pre-leader ET4 125, albeit, they’re more expensive than the worth of my ride! However, as I’ve grown portly over the years and the poor roads where I live in Costa Rica are bumpy and the suspension bottoms up!

Just installed the Black Edition Bitubos on my 2010 GTS 300 and im pretty sure you got the spacer on the wrong side on the left Shock. The instruction says it has to be inside. 😬
