Why don't Countries make non citizens turn over their passport and issue a Card showing how long they are allowed to legally be in the Country plus if they are allowed to work and if yes, any limitation on hours worked. Their passport photo/information page would be one side and all other information on the other side.This " I can't find my passport " game is silly. That would be the only card they'd have and they'd trade it back in for their Passport upon departure.
@dorianissock7322 ай бұрын
Do you mean have passports held by border officials when non citizens arrive in airports ? The governments of the passengers issued their passports. These passports ultimately belong to these governments, so legally and ultimately, those passports can only be held or rescinded by the issuing governments and those governments make the passport holders safe and secure. The only time (some) OTHER non-issuing countries can temporarily hold onto foreigners' passports is if the foreigner is under investigation (or the passport is deemed to be fake in which case they get returned to the issuing governments).
@raymondcaylor62922 ай бұрын
@@dorianissock732 I can find no corroborating information. Each Country has the Right to issue rules of entry into their Country and if Iran will not take back Citizens traveling on Iranian passports if that passport were hidden, lost, or stolen then travelers from Iran ( and any other Country with that immigration caveat) should be required to trade passport for another legal document to be admitted to the UK and switched back upon departure. Absolutely, I've found documented UK Immigration cases where non citizens had to give up their passport for short term admission being granted with no proper Visa and pick them back up on departure. It just makes sense to me to close the loophole that exists to expel illegal overstays.
