What a wonderful evening…my two favorite wfpb authors together in a ‘fireside’ chat. I have enjoyed both of your books, all of which have helped me finally find success eating healthy and losing weight. When I drift or stumble, I quickly re-read all my copies of ‘Plantifully Lean’ and ‘The Secrets to Ultimate Weight Loss’ (both the hard copy and audiobook). As Kiki mentioned, we need to saturate ourselves in positive resources when we slip, and the two of you are mine. I know you hear it all the time, but y’all are terrific! I so appreciate your dedication, hard work and superior content. Blessings to you both!

I really enjoyed the chat between you both today. I am 68 and became vegan almost 9 years ago. I am stronger, leaner and healthier than I have ever been. Most people around our Thanksgiving table were not and had many weight or health issues. I made lots of vegan dishes to share, but mostly they ate the traditional ones they brought. I try to live by example and answer any questions they have. It's funny how they think I'm the odd one!

My husband 69 years young, has heart disease and recently had cardiac bypass, carotid endarterectomy and repair of atrial fibrillation. He also has high blood pressure. He’s very thin and hates eating low salt so he doesn’t eat enough, but he loves salsa on everything. I remembered your salsa from Unprocessed, but then found canned no salt Rotel sauce, I put it in the bullet for a few seconds with bensons table tasty and lime and cilantro. He loves it and is able to eat more food with this sauce. I wanted to let you and your followers know another low salt trick!!

My homeschool kids are more socialized than public school kids who hang out with just their age group in a building they're told to be quiet and listen in. We hang out with people so often, it's too much. So homeschool not socializing isn't really a thing.

My personal trainer told me there is no way I am getting enough protein on WFPB. I just say 'ok' and eat my potatoes

I think people's recommendations on protein are way off maybe because they use usda guidelines, influenced by the food industry. Because the amount of protein they recommended when I was pregnant was impossible

This was great! I love Kiki. Just got her new book. I tell everyone about her. To answer why more people think potatoes make you fat or carbs make you fat... it's because there are not enough doctors discussing plant based diets. Maybe on the internet but go to any hospital in any town, you'll get a referral to a "nutritionist" who will tell a diabetic not to use real sugar but to use splenda. You need to eat this much meat because you need protein. You can drink milk but it should be skim. The more people that are on medications, the more money other people make. Corporate lobbyists don't care about health for the greater good. On the flip side, why should people not eat what they want if there is a medication that can make you feel good? Doctors know most people won't change their diet so they don;t even discuss it. I could go on but basically we have to look out for ourselves because no one will do it for us.

This week I made Kiki's Garden Lasagna for Thanksgiving and my family LOVED it!!! The only change I made was swapping white beans for tofu. I also made her rosemary scalloped potatoes that we'll have tonight. Kiki's healthy, tasty and family-friendly recipes are the ones I tend to always go back to. I'm also very sensitive to oils, especially coconut oil. It really increases my estrogen. Avocado and flax seed oil don't seem to imbalance my estrogen though.

I'm 60 and suffer with chronic pain from a spinal disease and fibromyalgia so exercise is tough. Even walking. It seems all of you who I follow do a lot of exercise, and weights. Broccoli mom never stops moving and has HUGE energy so I imagine it is easy to keep weight down doing all the exercise you all do. I'm afraid if I went starch based I would get fatter than I already am. :(

As the plant based docs explain, Whole food, plant based carbs do not make you fat. It is the processed carbs, fat, sugar and oil that cause weight gain.
