I like most that I can navigate through watch menu in full darkness. Any button soft backlight is a must for me.

Solid review. My core is still running strong after 6 5 years of edc. Great watches

Same. I have a Core All Black issued by the Army. Still going strong except for the bezel ring has lost some of its original black, lol.

I have the original Suunto core. The blue light was a little brighter than the alphas red light, but the red light is NVG capable. Only if Suunto was linked to a SOS frequency.

I’ve used the Core since 2010/11 really good bit of kit, it was a bit more expensive then(before smart watches really kicked off) than it is now, but still. That thing has been up mountains, in the sea, on house raids, scuffed against rocks: I rate it, even now, I still use it.
@banshee107Ай бұрын
I am disappointed it’s more expensive than what it was 10 years ago, especially in the age of the smart watch.

I've worn the Suunto Core All Black for the past 7 years, only broken up by 6 months of occasional smartwatch use. The ring is missing and the buttons get stuck and need a beating occasionally, but it's still kicking. Suunto makes a rugged watch (or they did, haven't used a newer one).

I’ll NEVER buy another SUUNTO product again. The service from the New Jersey US distributor was so horrendous when I sent a pair of watches in for battery replacement. They spent one back damaged (yes, they put it together incorrectly). It took months for them to agree to take it back and fix it.

I'm still running the original Samsung Galaxy 46 smart watch. Have a smart watch band for it with a solar Timex Expedition for backup or whatever else two watches are good for. 🤫

So you have a gripe with Suunto for what a service center did that is "authorized" to do warranty work for their products.... WHAT? 😂😂😂
@marktechsci20 күн бұрын
@ It is SUUNTO USA. If you need a product of theirs services it has to go there to maintain the warranty. I’m sure all of this is a bit over your head. It’s ok. Go play with your friends.
@Bro-bi_Wan_Kenobi20 күн бұрын
@@marktechsci There is no stand-alone Suunto outlets in the entire state of New Jersey, only Suunto approved outlets they let work on their products for customers. Keep lying, it looks great on you.
@marktechsci20 күн бұрын
@ the US Distributor is in NJ. That is where repair centers send products for repair. I bring the watch to my local dive shop and they send it to the US distributor in Jersey. Conversely you can send it to them directly yourself. Sorry you are so stupid. There is no fix for it.

Bought one (Suunto Core All Black) in 2016. Noticed on youtubevideos that Kyle Lamb and John Lovell had one so it seemed a good watch. Maybe i was unlucky and i've got a bad one. The watch turned out to be a major disappointment 😕. Very quickly i had an issue with buttons remaining stuck. Did send the watch to Suunto for repair (was still under warranty), but the button problem returned very soon. The worst part is the wristband that breaks after a year (the replacement is overpriced), so you understand why everyone has the aftermarket wrist band. I still use the watch for everyday use, sadly altimeter and compass don't work anymore. If i find a new one for a good price/deal, somehow i'm sure i will buy one.

If a 300$ watch survives a combat tour on your wrist, it is a bargain. Great comprehensive review.

Casio Protreks. I personally like the analog/digital ones, I can see the hands and tell the time in all light conditions, unless it’s pitch dark, and in that case there is a backlight function, and usually they have decent lume painted on anyways. In the digital field, I like to have set to day/date. On top of all that, the 2 next best useful features for me is the automatic radio-controlled time setting, and the 2nd time zone (swapping too).

I brought my first Vector in Afghanistan in 06, and haven't looked back ever since. Solid watches, and I own 7 of them. 5 different color Vectors, one Traverse Alpha and on Core Alpha. That's for the video, Brother. 🤝🏾🇺🇸💪🏾🫡

I bought one in 2011 when I started on my LE agency’s swat team. The first one just died, replaced on warranty. The second one I still have. Retired 8 years now and it is still part of my collection. Loved it!

Had a Suunto Core. Watch was great until I had to change the battery. Once I changed the battery -- it would run through them really quickly (couple weeks). Bought fresh batteries from groceries suspecting a battery problem but that didn't fix the issue. Lost it after that. Anyways -- cool gear review! Good to see Imri

I’ve owned this watch for over a decade. It still tells time but the compass wheel came off so I had to glue it back on. 2 buttons stopped working completely also. Change the battery once a year and it’s gtg.

I still have my Core. It did well. The Gshocks beat it at this level though. I have a Suunto smart watch I use now. I still prefer mechanical watches. If they weren’t twice as much, Garmin would probably have been my choice though. They have their uses and can be essential. Jumping was my main reason to try one.

I have the suunto alu core, it’s an okay watch, but the battery life sucks on it. I’m replacing the battery less than 6 months at a time compared to my gshock which is every 5 years lol. I went mechanical and wear a marathon GSAR 95% time now

The functions are very good but the watch material is very weak. Mine fell off the bed and broke the main button, but if the suunt made your body into polymer and your more resistant buttons and put phases of the moon.

From a person who has owned 3 Suunto cores and all 3 have failed within weeks of purchase, normally the buttons break, “I’m here to tell you they are cheap crap and this person is full of BS and is just saying anything for the pay check” these watches look the part but anybody who has ACTUALLY put their money where their mouth is will tell you about their disappointment….. this is just another KZbinr saying what the “sponsor” tells them

Great watch until then battery dies. When you change the battery the waterproof rating goes away. The Suunto-approved locations are few/ far between. The dive shop in Florida that does this gets more money for the battery swap than makes sense… But, that's not all. The replacement batteries don't last a year. Buy a Garmin and recharge it once a week. There will be no further cost for years.
