Wow you have been busy. Like you I’ve gone from extremely minimalistic camping to now a glamping set up, a 26ft Lance trailer, mostly for the comfort of my family. Maintenance can be overwhelming at times, but not a problem. I often find myself longing for the old times when the simplicity left me more time to enjoy the outdoors.

i did my express van with a big kitchen counter and usb faucet and sink too. lived out of it a few years and saved tons of money while working. tbh rarely needed the sink, even when i was out in the backcountry camping and riding; but probably cuz i had a below counter grey tank and quickly learned brushing your teeth into it got too funky. my newest van is a 2011 sienna wheelchair van with built in tie downs. made the bed to fold up so i can wheel my xt250 in and strap it down. you can put your bed in the suv on a short platform that folds up and keep bins underneath for all your stuff.

nice! seems like the life. yeah depends on the person, I could see myself using it a lot. but yeah under the sink gray water would suck, mine goes outside into an outdoor bucket or ground depending on area rules. nice, yeah for sure a lot of ways to do it. i'm doing a lot of neat stuff with my econoline build

Yep! On our Idaho trip, we went up over 10k' with no carb issues, stock jetting. I think the early tdubs with the pumper style carb me be affected by elev some, but still maybe not as bad as some think. I will say, we rode close to 1300 miles through Idaho and Montana, and at high elevation the fuel mileage was way down. If you lived there all the time, it may benefit from a leaner jet. Good video man, enjoyed it!! Looks like that area close by was huge in mining.

Hello again from western Canada. It's been awhile. So, u r outfitted pretty well but I don't think you will be having guests over for the night lol. Couple suggestions at me being 72. I've mentioned before I have a 2018 TW. So back in the 80s, my wife and I were camping a bit remote in my converted van. We slept cross ways to the back doors. It was super hot in the summer so I had one of the back doors slightly ajar. In the wee hours , someone or something tried the side door. Talked about scary. I gently got the back door closed so I could lock it. For yourself or any body, I think you should have a few very bright roof lites and a siren that you could just hit an emergency but button to turn on all ur outside security. Being you camp solo. The other thing is you should have a small nylon RV carpet to step on to reduce dirt traffic. Finally, being you have a roof top carrier, have you seen those little steps that hook into the door latch loop on the door frame? It gives you a step for getting things off the roof instead of standing on the seat. Cheers, Kelly

@TDubsKid Жыл бұрын
hello good to hear from you again! for sure, only room for 1 haha. neat, oh wow that's insane. i'm sure that was scary, glad you were able to lock the door, yeah that's a good idea for sure, I do have a remote start system so I could hit that. on the van i'm going to have 4 night vission cameras with IR illuminators and switch and screen next to the bed with a 4 channel switcher so I can always see whats out there. that's a good idea as well, sure do get a lot of dirt inside. those are neat, I usually stand on the tire and that works pretty well too Thanks!

That's cool! I bought a smart car at auction for 1800 bucks with 33k miles. I took the passenger seat out and made a sliding platform that turns into a bed and now have one of the world's smallest stealth campers. I made a custom top that looks like the back half of an suv and is like a tent that attaches to the back of the car, so when I'm sleeping looks like a 4 Dr smart. I tested it out at the Walmart on tower rd in Denver and nobody said a word

Hey man, just wanted to say I love your videos! You really help me get through the good old "seasonal depression" when I'm stuck inside/at work for the cold months and can't really take the time to ride anywhere. You've inspired me to get some camping gear and start motocamping and your videos on it helped point me in the right direction. Now I just gotta work up the courage (and break away from work long enough) to actually go do it! My dream right now is to eventually take my old Cherokee and build it into a sort of "Poor Man's Overlanding Rig". Are you pretty happy with things like the fridge/lights/kettle etc that you have? Would you be willing to post some links for things like that? Keep up the videos man. You never fail to make my day better.

Nice man! Yeah it was a good amount off. Hope you get a lot of good use out of it. Its nice having good amount of power like that off grid. If you store it for long periods of time I would recommend keeping it around 60 to 70% and not below 40% healthiest for lithium batteries. Power stations also consume a a tiny amount of power just sitting there over long periods due to the battery management system so good to check it once in a while. Also if you end up needed more 12v ports and more usb ports you can get a hub that expands to 3 12v ports and 4 extra usb ports. I like how they give 3 ac plugs already built in. I cant wait to try it out powering the diesel heater this winter

Great video. You know, I’ve been a big Toyota fan since i started driving back in ‘88 or something like that. I’ve had some gnarly 4WD’s, just bullet proof trucks! But the one that I have now, which is a 5th gen 4Runner, this thing has been giving me some serious headaches with its electrical system... It’s mostly the dashboard lights. You know, all the little indicator lights? They all stay lit up all the time. And I looked it up and learned that it is a notorious issue with some 4Runner’s, they call it the “Christmas tree dash”, lol, but I’ve yet to find a solution to this problem! And now, when the headlights are on, the dashboards back lighting dims when you hit the brake pedal! It’s really been frustrating, and I’m scared to add any accessories to the truck that require any kind of electrical modifications. I did install an air compressor under the hood when I first got it, but the problems didn’t start happening until well after that install. Despite hearing about other people experiencing the same issues, I haven’t found anyone that’s offered a solution. I took it to 2 different independent shops, and they couldn’t figure it out either. Other people have claimed to have taken it to Toyota, and they’re still having the issues.
@TDubsKid
@TDubsKid Жыл бұрын
thanks! yeah older Toyota trucks were the bomb. yeah the new ones have all of the modules and bus communication systems like all other newer vehicles, thats a crazy strange issue. I wonder if I did a full system scan with my scan tool I would find any fault that would maybe point towards an issue. Is your compressor hooked right to battery? also does is there an intelligent battery sensor installed? they are not as simple as they use to be
@airadaimagery692
@airadaimagery692 Жыл бұрын
@@TDubsKidI wish I had a quality scan tool of my own. I am assuming that the people who I read about on the internet who brought their trucks to the dealership had their vehicles scanned. But I try to avoid stealerships all together. The air compressor is essentially connected directly to the battery, aside from having an on/off toggle switch mounted on the dashboard, and an in line fuse next to the battery. No intelligent battery sensor that I know of... It boggles my mind that I’ve heard of so many other people experiencing similar issues, especially for so long, and that no one seems to have figured it out... It’s been probably a year now since I last browsed the Internet looking for answers, so I need to start another search, but this has been going on for a very long time. I try to do all my own repairs, and I have projects going on all the time like yourself. But most of them are older vehicles. I have an old Jeep that I’ve done a total restoration on, replaced the motor, upgraded the axles, etc. ext., but I can’t figure out something that seems so simple such as this. It’s definitely frustrating.

What brand hitch carrier is on your 4RNR? Looks very sturdy, doesn't wiggle much, and it looks like it carries the bike well over uneven ground. I need one for my own TW so I can access more of our BDR rides here in Washington!

Black widow brand, have a video on it here. kzbin.info/www/bejne/inrPcpaZdtJ8ldUsi=aUnc-GUwx9UmV6rf, I dont recommend the anti wobble device it comes with, the bolts fell out on a washboard road, I would get this one, the one I use, it works great and never seems to loosen up. a.co/d/5LiNsp3 yeah take the thing off road, it works great. Need to add brake lights to it soon though

Thanks for all your videos. Do you have a video on cam chain tensioner adjustment? My service manual is not clear to me. It list from 1987-2000 but not anything to present. This manual does from 1987 to 2017. I have two tw 2009 + 2015. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

no problem, they put an autochain tensioner on the 2001 upgrade and newer, no need to adjust

How do you handle riding alone? I sold off my bikes and gear simply because I didn't enjoy being alone. I don't have any clubs or buddies to ride with. Problem is I really miss it, I'm starting to get the itch to ride again.....

Man I love riding and Adventures alone, it's the ultimate freedom, I can go wherever do whatever I want any time of day or night. plus I like filming my adventures which is harder to do with other people, they don't really want to stop and get drone shots and stuff usually, ideally I would want to ride with other people who make videos also. But it's just my personality where I like to do things alone
