Suzi was a trailblazer for women in Rock. Its a simple pop song from the Glam rock era but the impact of this tiny bundle of power on what women thought was possible in the world of rock music was immense

Thanks guys for your honest opinion. Really this song does grow on you. Suzi was born in Detroit USA, she got offered a record contract over in the UK in 1971. This song topped the UK charts it went to No1 there also No 1 in Australia Japan and in some European countries as well.

Bro's, Suzi was the first female I recall fronting a band, AND playing an instrument(bass)!! Joan Jett got her look from her, and Tina Weymouth of the Talking Heads learned to play bass by watching her videos. You'll love her "If You Can't Give Me Love" kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYmsaoqEZt6KldE (1978) and "Rock Hard" (1980) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGe8gJucfdyjgrM.

Blimey, this takes me right back to the 1970s!! Many's the time I heard this song, it was really popular at the time. Other songs by Suzi Quatro are 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, If You Can't Give Me Love and The Wild One. It was unusual then to have a female fronting a band, I loved watching her on Top of the Pops in the UK, this song actually got to No.1 in 1973 and she was a huge part of the British rock scene at that time. Really interesting to hear your opinion and your reaction to this song, maybe it wasn't quite what you expected! Thanks so much, guys, take care now. 😊👍

@annemaclean6634
@annemaclean6634 Жыл бұрын
@@Katy_r Good question, Katy! Had a look on Google and the songwriter, Nicky Chinn said:''can the can' is something that is pretty impossible, you can't get one can inside another if they are the same size, so we're saying you can't put your man in the can if he is out there and not willing to commit'. Hope that makes sense! 😊

Guys, this is Glam Rock, a unique style of rock music that developed in the early 1970s and was performed by musicians who wore outrageous costumes, makeup, and hairstyles, particularly platform shoes and glitter. Suzi Quatro is the real Queen of the Glam Rock. Check also Suzi Quatro - "48 Crash" and "Daytona Demon". Other excellent Glam Rock Bands: 1. The Sweet - "The Ballroom Blitz". (This one is a must to react to). 2. Slade - Cum on Feel the Noize" and "Mama Weer All Crazee Now". 3. T. Rex - "Children of Revolution" and "Get it on".

This seems kind of pop/glam - not too serious.It's definitely the studio version mimed - not live at all. Agree completely with your comments. You might enjoy Black Sabbath's 1st song on their 1st album. Song and album are called "Black Sabbath". It's well known and special for being their 1st song. Very popular this time of year - scary Halloween vibes! Thanks for your work guys!!

This is the studio version of the song - the band were miming. Most music performances on TV shows in the 70s (eg. Top of the Pops) were mimed.
@annemaclean6634

Absolutely, living in the UK, I and my friends never missed Top of the Pops and in those days, as you rightly say, it was all mimed. Used to be quite funny sometimes when the singers got it wrong and or they did it deliberately! Seems crazy now doesn't it but we just accepted it. Back in those days, I watched the programme every week hoping my favourite band or singer would be on! Bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones of course, The Small Faces, The Who, The Hollies, Status Quo, The Kinks, Manfred Mann, Spencer Davis Group, gosh, there were just so many and I knew them all.😊

American female making her mark in the UK, where she's lived more than her native States, she was also married to the Guitar player normally on her left with a beard, think his name was Lenny. This wasn't a live performance for some reason the BBC and TOTP didn't allow live singing, can't remember the reasons behind it, Queen did mention it quite some time back in one of their latest documentaries, who actually have a previously unreleased track out, I've sent you both the links on your IG private messages

Anyway, here's a few recommendations - All of the Day and All of the Night, You Really Got Me, Days, Tired of Waiting, Till the End of the Day, A Well Respected Man, and loads more. They had a really distinctive sound and they are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. Cheers guys.👍

I didn’t care for this one at all. I didn’t really get the lyrics and the tune fell flat for me. Overall it just was very uninteresting and didn’t even have a good beat. ☝️BUT, I too, will reserve my complete judgement of this singer or band until I hear a couple more from them. If they aren’t my cup of tea though, I’ll be okay with that….. it’s simply not possible to like EVERYTHING.🤷🏻‍♀️
