Nicely done, Thank you for sharing! I just bought a 2005 C50 with 30,000 miles on it for 1500! I rode it home about 200 miles and it seems to run fine! Clutch is strong, engine purrs, I think I’ll change the oil and filter, coolant, - transmission seems fine! It’s my first bigger motorcycle! You’ll probably see more of me! Great video!

Pretty good guide for clutch replacement. The only thing that bothers me is what you called a "bushing" , the thing you hang the gasket onto, is called a "dowel pin". Dowel pins are really important because they insure exact tolerance for alignment of engine parts. I installed a transmission once and forgot to install the dowel pins, and the alignment of the engine and transmission were off by and it destroyed the pressure plate. I don't mean to be nit picky, just thought the viewers would like to know there's a purpose for those two little thingamabobs--don't lose them or forget to put them back on.
@JohnnyDont Жыл бұрын
Not to be nitpicky back, but I'm a viewer and I couldn't have cared less what he called them so long as he showed what needed to be done right and I didn't have to figure out what he was saying in Bengali like most videos for metric bikes. 🥔

Took about 2 hours from prep work (getting tools laid out and oil soaking plates) to putting fresh oil back in. Granted I had to take a trip to Napa in between that lol. Appreciate the tutorial, I'm not very mechanically inclined but I made light work of this project! Runs like a different bike! Thank you so much brother!

Thank you so much for a simple straight forward video instruction on the clutch repair. I have a 2007 C50 with 38k miles and have been noticing on 40 to 50 mph, if I have to accelerate in to a passing lane, I hear..then feel the acceleration. I feel like it is a slipping clutch and only in the upper gears. You address this very concern at the beginning of the video, so I believe it will relieve this issue. I really like this bike and don't want to trade it out or spend a fortune at a bike shop. I will do this repair and let you know how it turns out. Also, thanks for the clutch adjustment video, a nice finish to this repair.

Hi Bryan. This is one old video, but I just bought me a 2005 M50 last week. This is one of the BEST how to vids I've ever watched. I was looking for how to adjust the clutch but ended up watching this all the way through. I've always been dreading the time I'll need to replace the clutch plates. (I have a Triumph Rocket III, too), but after this, I see there is no need to fear! Thanks you, Thank You for that!!! Now, you mentioned that the next video will be how to adjust the clutch so off to that. While I was lubing the clutch cable the clutch end came out of the slot so I've already been under the covers to put that back in. That little adjuster thingy looks scary, though, but I'm sure that the next video you did after this one will take care of that! Cheers!!!

Good Morning to you, first let me say I'm very glad to see you taking a ride along the beach. I saw your video and you sounded very happy to be "in the saddle" again. Hopefully you will not have any long term discomfort with the meds and will continue with a clear head. I wanted to thank you for the video on the C50 clutch replacement. I have a 2007 C50 , and after watching your video decided to tackle this myself. I order parts from Suzuki House, online and paid about $160.00 total. The fix was straightforward and relatively painless! It took longer to clean the gasket off the housing and mainframe then any other part of the job. I then adjusted the clutch per your second video and all is well. I rode it yesterday for a "shakedown" and it feels great. (South Louisiana 61 degrees). While I have always been mechanically inclined, your video and this job made me mechanically confident. Stay healthy, keep riding and we hope to watch more videos. And as we say in Louisiana laissez les bons temps rouler .

I know this vid is years old. But I just did this repair this AM. And wanted to take a moment to show my appreciation. It went very smoothly. It didn't take under an hour... but it also didn't take me days to finish because I didn't have the proper tools - like a torque wrench. Thanks again for posting. I had a great ride this AM back up to N Scottsdale while being down and out for four months. Next up - clutch cable adjustment. Yes, I watched the vid on that and ready to go tomorrow. Thx again. All the best.

Becareful there are some differences depending on the year of the bike. Im doing my clutch currently waiting for new barnett parts. On my 2004 C90 I don't believe the fibre plates are different thicknesses, but I will check the new ones. Also the last fibre plate goes in a different slot than rest of the fibre plates and when replacing the clutch pressure plate there is a small hole in the plate that is supposed to line up with a triangle on the clutch basket. I have a manual. Take pictures before you disassemble, always nice to have for reference.

I worked for Honda. Suzuki may be the same. If you mix the side cover bolts simply put a few in and notice the distance from the bolt head to the cover, that is putting them in the holes till they stop before you screw them in, if one is say 1/4 inch out they will all be 1/4 inch out. This way you know you have them in the right hole. If it is too short it will be down against the cover, too long it will be out farther than the rest. I enjoy your videos. Norman

where did you get your oem gasket?
@itsthebike66725 жыл бұрын
The clutch springs lose their original strength do to exposure to heat. The manual calls out the free length to determine if they need replacing. Springs that are stronger than oem are a marketing gimmick & don't do anything except make the clutch actuation unnecessarily heavier. When you inspect the steels, check for warpage on a flat surface. If you bought the bike used, measure the thickness of your steels with micrometer to ensure previous mechanic got it right.

Excellent clutch video... my only addition as a machinist (not a bike expert) would be to make sure the plates are very clean and free or burrs... feel them and place them on a granite plate, and use an arkansas stone to lightly feel for burrs from manufacturing. I'm no clutch expert either though... I'm sure a clutch breaks in VERY quickly.

First off, great video! I changed out my clutch without much struggle due to your video. I have a question for you though. A mechanic said changing it would get rid of the whirring/whining noise my bike has when in 1-3 gear. It did fix that. When the bike is in gear it makes a loud and rather embarrassing amount of whirring/whining noise. When I press the clutch lever it goes away except if I'm slowing to a complete stop then it still makes a little noise. Any ideas? Thanks
