The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is known to be a pretty fun bike to ride for sure, but generally could be considered to be quite tame and versatile. Not so when Suzuki India decided to take it racing in 2019. With a light-weight freeflow exhaust, missing headlight, missing rear seat and other weight-saving measures, the race bike has lost over 20kg. And then it has been way more aggressive with lowered clip-ons, further rear-set footpegs, raked-in front suspension and stickier tyres. The end result is a serious little race bike that we had a chance to race at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore, in September 2019, as part of the Suzuki Gixxer Cup Media Endurance Race. And to make things interesting, we sent the unlikeliest of racers to have a go at this race.

Yeah... so the issue here was gearing. It was stock on the race bike and that meant it was hitting the limiter in 6th gear at about 156kmph, hardly about two-thirds down the main straight at Kari. With the right sprocketing, it could've easily gone much faster.

We're each about 230lbs (105kg). There are some companies which make plus-sized suits, but the better option for heavy weights like us is to get a custom stitched suit made. And yes... it does get rather hot in leathers... especially in Indian summers :)
