You could have made a canister muffler like they do for snowmobiles. Could have had the exhaust come out the side and go up like a tractor at a tractor pull. And then add one of those propane flame thrower kits for exhausts. That would be one hell of a lawn mower!

When I was 12 I found an old moped for $30 at a garage sale. I talked my mom into letting me buy it and that started my family on our "biker" journey. Dad ended up on a Harley, I ended up on a CB500 chopper, and mom tried to ride a CL350. But, a week after I brought home that old moped, dad had a shiny used GS450 sitting in the driveway. He didn't have it long before he upgraded to a GS650. But, he always said how that 450 was the prettiest "rice burner" he ever owned (It was the '90s). To this day, I still have the old man's Harley and the CL350 that was originally bought for my mom.

Ayyy the cb500 i love that bike that was my buddys first ever bike. his dad rode and built harleys in the army during vietnam. He ended up selling it to a young kid and him and his dad ended up completely decking out the bike. They would send my buddy updates whenever they did something big like paint or chrome. Turned out to be a very nice motorcycle.

If you'd drop the rear sprocket size to around 30, you could start with 1st and pull gears all the way down the track.

@oikkuoek

@@thunderpants645 40 is still a bit much for that rear tyre, but not that far off. somewhere between 40 and 30 would be the sweet spot.

@@oikkuoek I'm betting he was staying pretty low in the rpm range of that thing, might not have a lot more MPH in it but I bet it could get there a lot quicker revving the gears out farther
@hunterdan2002
@hunterdan2002 Жыл бұрын
@@Greg1096 they're geared way too low, dropping to a smaller sprocket would easily net them a lot more mph, and I bet they'd dip into the 9s or 8s in the 1/8. That tire is so small compared to what it was pushing on a bike.
@oikkuoek
@oikkuoek Жыл бұрын
@@Greg1096 The pass was on full blast. It won't rev any higher unless the pod filter is changed to a free flowing airbox. Even then the single carb setup restricts the airflow significantly. And that "muffler".. No hope getting past 8K.

13:50 I aint seen yet what Ike came up with, but it seems obvious to me: Flip those exhaust stubs UP, and have chrome bike mufflers comin' straight up thru the hood! Stacks! With flappers on top to keep water out. Also, make em "quick-disconnect", so you can still open and close the hood! 😂

In the early ‘60’s I raced go karts. We ran McCulloch engines. We had about a 3” tall velocity stack on the carburetor. We used a patch cut from one of my mothers nylon stocking over the velocity stack held on with rubber bands. It was our homemade air cleaner. Worked great. We financed our race team with a paper route and taking empty soda bottles back to stores for the deposit. It’s amazing what a couple 12 year olds can do when they put their minds to it.

Well, there’s one thing that I keep thinking about and have been for a few years. About 15 years ago my father bought an 80’s Suzukis gs 650 from a neighbor (they called it a “low slinger” and I think that was just an random term for them). What I find perplexing is that it had four spark plugs like a 4 cylinder, and the biggest thing was there was no chain or belt, it was shaft driven. Might not have been the fastest flat out but the torque and acceleration was incredible for what it was

A cheap pair of GPS front calipers and rotors with a hand controlled valve would be the cheapest,easiest line lok,and make for spectacular burnouts out of the water box,plus help alleviate any chance of creeping due to under adjusted clutch cables,PLUS it will slow you down at minimum 50% quicker.. Add 1 more tooth to the front sprocket at a time,slot, and make the chain guard adjustable,and then after 2 or more front teeth increases, go to lowering the rear tooth count until you get the bestestestests gear ratio for that 1/8th mile run.. or for a GPS highway run over say 1320' down at Ikes river place.. js...
