wonderful video!!! I didn't understand why the BMW R1200 riders... were picking turns like a bus when the R1200 handles them absolutely amazingly
@helmtube Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure either, I guess older and tired guys :) I love how R1200 motorbikes handle. I had R1200RS and now I also own R1200GS and I can say that the both handle perfect. I was actually surprised how good GS handles. Sometimes I'm in corners faster on GS that on my Suzuki GT :) Cheers mate!

I will also go and test GX after it will be available. I don't think I will switch the GT but I would like to see how Suzuki implement the cross-tourer. I'm also looking forward to test the electronic suspension it offers. But the most I would like to see if there is an update of software. I'm kind-a disappointed that since my phone update (ios) few months ago I can not connect and use Sygic navigation app on my motorbike anymore ...

Clunky shifting could be from the oil you run. I’ve had really smooth shifts from using oils like Motul 300V, Castrol Power 1, and Mobil 1. I find mineral and semi-synthetic oils don’t shift as smooth as full synthetic or double ester oils in various bikes I have owned.
@helmtube7 ай бұрын
I know that Suzuki put in semi-synthetic oil on my first service. I haven't tried Motul 300V on any of the bikes I've owned but I do believe is a great oil. I even noticed a difference when using Motul 7100 (ESTER) on one of my bikes.
@masterjim697 ай бұрын
@@helmtube 300V is a double ester. Used by Yoshimura Suzuki Race Team. I'm running it in my ZX9R, an older bike. Motul claims up to 2.5hp increase on top in a four-cylinder bike. I can feel it. There's a guy on KZbin with a 2014 Honda CBR1000RR who put 8500 miles on this oil and sent the used oil out for analysis. It was still good! I talked to the Motul rep and he said if you're not racing or doing track days or redlining a lot, 8500+ miles is fine. It is a higher quality oil. You get what you pay for. Basically the same as Silkolene Pro Series oil, which is used by California Superbike School. They are the most expensive oils but worth it.

What is wrong with those yellow plate guys? I've never seen anyone ride such a suicidal line. And... did you like the stock tires better or your new ones?
@helmtube Жыл бұрын
Not sure what they were doing, but I did ride behind them for quite some time even before and it just seemed dangerous. So I wanted to overtake them as soon as possible. The stock tires: very good in warm & dry conditions, everything else - just good :) For this time I wanted to try something new, so Avon Spirit ST. They give you lots of confidence. Very good in wet and dry and good mileage too ( I assume, I still run the first pair and I made approx 5k km and they are somewhere on 60% of thread left). I somehow would say that they are very similar to Michelin Road 5.
@stephenmcqueen4029 Жыл бұрын
Yellow plate = Brits. They are riding that line to get the best view I’d say . So you go on the other side for a bit as long as it’s safe, which it looked like it was.
@stephenmcqueen4029 Жыл бұрын
@@helmtubeI’ll be putting avons on mine when the stocks are done. I really rate them for valve and mileage plus grip is great
@helmtube Жыл бұрын
@@stephenmcqueen4029 They are good tyres. They might be just as good as Michelin Road 5. Mileage is great, grip is great, handling is great. If you are not driving aggressive it makes no sense to put super-sport tyres on this kind of bike. One thing that I noticed from the first meter on when I change my stock tyres was how the handling of the bike changed. It became much more neutral. So I would rate Avon Spirit ST tyres as very good. I think i will squeeze 10k kilometers of out them (my riding style is pretty much what you see in my videos, sometimes two-up, many times with luggage...)

Hi, could you please tell me what topcase/frame have you installed? Thanks
@helmtube5 ай бұрын
@stefanomiglioranzi6 I've installed the Hepco & Becker Minirack, drilled some holes to it and on top of it I've installed the Shad SH44 top case. There are also other solution for top case holder but at the time of buying mine I didn't visually like any of them. The Hepco & Becker minirack is very solid made, build quality is top. The only downside might be that you have to remove the handgrips for passenger. Passenger can hold herself to Minirack but the grips are a bit too tight, or better said too close to seat itself. Ciao & enjoy your rides mate!

Great video. When you ride on normal pace, what's your average fuel consumption?
@helmtube Жыл бұрын
I reseted the fuel consumption gage before I went to Austrian-Swiss-Italian-French Alps trip, all together I made 3200km. Mixed riding, some commuting, some pushing in Alps twisties. I will publish more videos of Route des grandes Alpes road to get an impression :) Anyways, when I got back home was the average consumption 5.1L/100km. I was surprised how low it was. I think I only once saw a range over 300km displayed on TFT after filling up the whole tank... I also noticed somehow that the avg. current consumption (displayed on TFT) is lower when I'm riding in a lower gear, so 5th instead of 6th at the same speed (over 80km/h)

How does the yoshi exhaust got with the side panniers installed Is there enough clearance and is there any heating issues?
@helmtube10 ай бұрын
Hi There. The R77S was designed to be used on GSX-S1000GT with panniers. So there are no issues with heat or fitting. It fits perfectly. I have the exhaust now on my bike for about 6000km, did quite some touring with panniers on the bike and I have nothing what I could complain about.

how do you find the screen? I'm 6 1 and find the stock one quite loud on the motorways, looking around for another, other than that its such a fun bike
@helmtube Жыл бұрын
The windscreen in this video is an MRA Sport windscreen SPM. It's a bit shorter than the stock. I'm 182cm tall and for me it is a perfect windscreen for summer. You get quite a lot of wind to your shoulders and head, but this is what I actually prefer (on a hot summer day). What I particularly like about it is how quiet the ride inside my helmet feels. Even thou the stock windscreen was also very quiet and had a good weather protection, the MRA is one level up quieter. The second windscreen I bought was Ermax Touring windscreen which has an amazing wind protection but is, for my height, significantly louder. Which windscreens are you considering to buy? Cheers mate!

true, changing the slip-on doesn't bring much these days. Basically it's waste of money :) My intention was to make bike sound quieter, I feels like this Yoshimura R77S sounds a bit quieter in mid revs range. Manufacturer claims it produces 93.5 dB at 5500 rpm.

The guys you passed rode like dickheads, I don't like the whining noise , why did you use the clutch , I might eventually replace my brilliant 2012 Honda cbf 600 with the Suz , but she would have done just as well if not better than the new 1000 Suz
@helmtube6 ай бұрын
I use both clutch and QS, I have no specific rule when to use what. On some revs shifting feels smoother using the clutch and on other using QS does better job. I think each motorbike has this... Generally on higher revs QS is smoother and on lower revs clutch feels "the right" option. What do you guys think about that?

rev when you downshift please 😖 not rev-matching is painful to hear
@helmtube10 ай бұрын
Shifting sound is probably a little bit saturated since the external sound recorder was placed under the seat and it picks up "metal" sounds quite loud. Using a clutch when downshifting is very smooth and you don't need to rev match on this GSX-S 1000 GT. I mostly downshift with quick-shifter so rev matching is not possible. Or? Do you rev match also when you use quick-shifter?

Based on registration plates they came long way to ride the Alps, so they must have had some skills to reach the place...

That quick shifter sounds like shit,, clunk. Clunk, clunk.. I don't use the quick shifter on my 2023gsxs100gt. For that reason. It's not that hard to use the clutch and if you know how to ride you don't need the clutch on the upshift most times.
@helmtube10 ай бұрын
It's a toy I like to use. I remember shifting clutchless on my Bandit 1250 it worked just perfect. I think in this video the "clunks" are louder the you header them when sitting on the bike due to the position of the external sound recorder. There is an issue I noticed lately with my Quick Shifter and I wanted to ask you if you experienced the same thing: Sometime when I upshift using QS the "time" the engine cuts off the spark plugs is taking too long... I'm bringing my bike to the dealership to check it. Did you every experience that on yours? Cheers!
@redhytech10 ай бұрын
@helmtube I rarely use my QS. I'm so used to using the clutch. My GT, the QS is almost always clunky... if I'm hammering on it, it works fine on the up shift.. most times, it doesn't work at all on the down shift. I have had it get stuck in 3rd or 4th and had to come to a complete stop to get it to change,, even using the clutch after it wouldn't QS down.
