In an effort to relieve him of his eternal novice biker status, we gave our tame photographer a GSX-S1000F to look after. He rides it a bit, fettles it a bit, but mostly looks at it. This episode: a trip back in time to this F's birth, out of a van at Silverstone.

Jonny is natural presenter - a dry wit mixed with a touch of the average human being that makes his presentation very likeable. Well done Jonny - we aren't all super racers!

I am not kidding when I say this. I have literally bought this very bike. Don't believe me, I'll prove it on the 20th when I collect it and I have the insurance docs !

I've test ridden the GSX-S version and I loved it, my current bike is a GSXR 1000 K4 so it's not as though I leaped off something slow and onto this. The snatchy throttle I have to say I didn't notice it, at least not like everyone reports it to be. With any 1000 the acceleration can be harsh if you give it a handful of throttle, perhaps as I'm used to my own bikes quite brutal acceleration this didn't feel any different. Loads more torque everywhere though over the K 4 engine, which is why it's perfect in this bike for twisty roads etc.

+Clint Winstanley Test rode the naked and the faired. the downforce produced by the faired, as well as the extra weight down the front of the bike made it hands down a better bike over the naked. I'm a fan of the engine, but tbh it it struggles with what most i4's do in it's class - you've got to keep revs up higher. Not that's a big issue for anyone who actually knows how to ride a bike. I quite liked the faired version. It's hard to toss up buying this or another Blade - which I'm near exclusive too. I have to say it would be nice if Fast Bikes Mag did a pillion test - particularly pillion comfort test I might buy another Suzuki.

Who' s the guy that did the suspension, do you have a contact or web page? I didn't understood what he meant by resetting the rebound cap? All the clicks out or in...

Everyone complains of a snatchy throttle but I didn't notice this on my test ride at all.

+nothing to see here I can confirm it, then. I test rode it, and it's not always imminent. Same thing on my GSX 650F. When trying to stay in power band around 3rd/4th gears, not always, but sometimes, if you let off the throttle NO MATTER HOW GENTLY, it will jolt, as if you completely snatched it off. I don't suppose you rode the testbike hard. The dealer near my place is nest to a mountain with awesome twisty roads, so you know....:) They also are very aware of this, so everything's insured to the brim. Think, if you wrote off a 1299 panigale, you'd still be only paying $1000 to cover their excess.

TheSpyChecker I tested the bike out on the open road and got up to 160km/h. It was rock steady and the throttle was fine. Also tested it in traffic lights in town at low speeds. Throttle was fine. Maybe the bike you rode had a loose chain that needed adjusting? I just didn't notice any issues like thise on my test bike. Maybe there is a bad batch of bikes out there? I dunno but that is my honest experience.

nothing to see here I read in a review, that when they tested the pre-release model it was present, but not in their review bike.... Then again, it's the same jumpy throttle i've felt riding all kinds of suzukis, but not always, even on same models. not sure. hard to reproduce it, Gliding on the throttle on an open road is a little different than keeping the rpm's optimal and accelerating off/engine braking after/before a turn
