Suzuki GSX-S1000F - Long Term Test Ep1 - Jonny's Blog

Having recovered from riding our ZX-10R to Portimao and back, we gave our tame photographer a GSX-S1000F to look after. He rides it a bit, fettles it a bit, but mostly looks at it. This episode: suspension set up.

Nice work. I totally agree about the overly responsive throttle. I rode the GSXS-1000 and when I blipped the throttle on down-change it revved to the moon. I only rode it once and I still really liked the bike though, it felt quicker than my Ninja 1000 (zx1000sx).

That was the first thing I noticed about the bike; It looks rather feminine from the front. But To be honest the look has grown on me.

Is that half a turn out from fully closed, or from stock settings (on the rear)? Looks like 2 spacers on the fork, then I guess 5 clicks out from fully closed?

​@@chickentikka25 - Front Settings: From standard-settings three Clicks clockwise - Preload Front: Two (couting down from 5, the upper Ring is 5) - Preload back: Standard setting 3 - Damping back: half a turn clockwise from standard setting

These videos have been invaluable because I stumbled into my 2016 GSXS1000FA thinking it would be an older guy's iteration of the K6 I also have in the garage, it being still, according to Wikipedia on fastest accelerating motorbikes the fastest to 100kph ever put on the road. First up, the bike broke my leg by stalling in a tight turn at low revs and me being unable to jump away quick enough. Cured that with a boosterplug. Then there was the suspension; absolutely painful and unyielding on our Australian country roads. I was just about to buy an expensive rear shock when I came upon the mechanic in the first video who showed Jonny how to set up the shocks. I copied it and it works a treat. The bike arrived as a flawed masterpiece and now it is a champion. My only aesthetic complaints is why they stuck those blinkers on when they could have buried them into the rear vision set up or even down on the two front side lights, similarly couldn't they have put them in the back cowling. Oh also I removed the hanging stanchion from the back and put on a tail tidy, and a Lust Racing lowering kit. I turned up at an old girlfriend's place and she said, what brand is the bike; good point, so I bought some beautiful Suzuki reflective stickers for the rims and put them on the tank and now it looks as fast as it has become.

@@imerovic It 100% has nothing to do with the bike... AS in the GSX-S series, maybe his was defective or whatever.
