Suzuki Intruder Volusia 2003 - Air filter cleaning

Thank to brilliant feedback from Intruder family I'd like to state that this method should only serve as a half measure. Stock (paper) filters are meant to be replaced when dirty.
You can go however a step further by installing K&N filter which can be cleaned.

Hi mate. I'm really glad the videos are helping. Unfortunately I don't have a video on how to replace the pump, and I can't record one because I don't have this bike anymore. I'm sure I can find instructions on how to do it thought, if that helps.

CAN I INSTALL THE WATER PUMP AND NOT THE THERMOSTAT, ITS BETTER WITHOUT THERMOSTAT OR IT NEED TO BE ADD IT ?

Hi. Sorry for late reply. No, you need the thermostat...it regulates the coolant flow. Let me know your email, I'll send you pages of the manual that talks about the water pump.

On my 03 vl800 i hear noises when i ride , as if it’s bogging out , have you experienced this?

Hi. No, but as I replied to your other messages, it can be few different things.

Could the hose at the bottom being disconnected, cause my bike to overheat? If there wasn't enough air going in potentially?

No it wouldn't cause an overheat. Air going in through the filter is not used to cool the engine, it's used in mixture with fuel to run your bike. If anything, less air would make the mixture rich and you would start using bit more fuel. Is your bike overheating?

@@Maraggie honestly? I think I may be overreacting to stop and go traffic. Came back from a 300 mile mountain ride the other day and she behaved beautifully. So I ll keep monitoring it.

@@f.c.9132 Yes mate. Those engines are water cooled, that's why you got the radiator in the front. You can do stop/go traffic as much as you want. I got a 1.6l Harley that's air cooled and in summer, in traffic I literally cook my legs it's so hot. And it still runs :) Worth checking your coolant level if you have never done so before. The cap is under the fuel tank in the front.
