I remember having to replace the alternator bushing on my RF900RW, and yeah, had to dremmel the outer shell out (pain in the bum job), as, most RF owners will know, Suzuki changed the setup from a direct shaft and gear, to a rubber cushioned bushing. BUT... The annoying thing is... 35 days later, it went again! Went back to the dealer, tried to claim a faulty part, but, ANNOYINGLY, they denied the claim as it was "Over the 30 days warranty for the part"... So.. Another £40odd quid, and another pain in the bum job!! I started looking into doing the GSXR1100 mod/swap back to direct connected alternator shaft/gear setup... Never got around to it and changed bikes some time after... Wished I'd not got rid of the bike, she was a VERY good bike for what she was... 😞. Also, if you're interested in a unique look to your headlights/tail lights that I did to my bike... Reply to this comment and I'll send pics... 👍 😎🇬🇧

@@dimonmakas3041 Do you have an RF900 (or even an RF600)? As, if your thumbs up is to see what I did with my lights, just let me know (or email me - my email address can be found on my home page) 😎🇬🇧

IIRC, there's a page on the Owners' Forum which covers the green label alternator vs the later, inferior design. It's a good while since I read it, but I recall there being a way of cobbling the new Alt, with the solid drive of the older design. If it was a new Alt, you'd certainly void any warranty, so it might make sense to leave it in OEM spec until the rubbery connection failed..... and then do the conversion.

Harsh of that dealer not to help you out. Sad that so many don't seem to give a stuff about their customers ... It's an insane business model, as well ...
