Suzuki SV1000 Project Bike - Part 12 - Fork Seal & Fork Oil Replacement

Hello everyone, welcome back to the channel!
In this video, I will be carrying out a strip and rebuild of the front forks on my Suzuki SV1000.
This is a fairly straightforward process and should be carried out as a part of a routine maintenance plan by every bike owner, not just SV1000s specifically.

I found a set of 2007 GSXR750 forks, had them resprung with Öhlins, Elka pistons and Ktek clickers. Had to mod the upper clamp, braided lines to 2007 brake set. This is the best thing I did to the bike and I have done a lot to it.

At about 52:00. The spring goes that orientation because it's a progressive spring. The loose coils at the bottom make for a softer, more compliant ride over smaller bumps. As the spring loads up over bigger road hazards, the tighter stiffer coils at the top come into play

Correct, it goes that way because the manual says so, however if you put it in the other way the spring would still act exactly the same, it would make no difference to the way it rides!

Great video. Thank you! Does anyone know what weight fork oil Suzuki recommends for the SV1000? I'm only 64kg and the factory settings seem fine for me. I heard 5wt. was right. I've also got some burs/imperfections on the stautions. Could you use say 2000grit wet and dry paper to remove them?

Hi, how much of improvement will this make ? Also I'm considering putting a new cartridge with gold valve inside , do you think this will improve by far the front end ? Thanks
