Makes me happy to see an old TL getting some love. I have a '2000 TL1000R that puts a grin on my face every time I ride it.

I loved those but could only get an SV1000S in 03 when I was ready to buy. Loving IT still! I recommend Dyna coils. I used white vinegar to derust my tank, came out nice. You may want to remove the stator and check the flywheel magnets. Mine had all broken loose and migrated to one side. 13.8 volts at idle makes me suspect yours have too. My SV makes 14.4volts at idle now with them glued back in place. (Permatex sleeve retainer with aircraft fuel tank sealant in between each of them as a buffer). I hope you are having fun on that bike by now.

Great video, I have to resurrect a TL1000s that has been garaged for 18 years, so I know there may be some issues.

The Hayabusa rear brake disc is larger and will fit the TL if you use the Hayabusa caliper mount too. It's a worthwhile upgrade. Can get the caliper mount for about $5 on eBay.

yeah I was just wondering why if we're going to do an external fuel filter the most of us is still have a good fuel filter why we wouldn't disconnect the existing fuel filter out of the inside of the tank and then just relocated to the outside of the tank and put a new piece of hose in the fuel pump like you've done then just run are pre-existing fuel filter outside of the tankI appreciate the idea but the least now I can put my fuel filter on the outside and I wanted to change so much but I don't mind taking it apart

Thank you for the video, it has helped me out a lot. I am going to do the same to my 97’ tl1000s tank. Did you mix the CLR with water or use it full strength?
@cunninghamgarage20744 жыл бұрын
You can mix it with some water but I did use straight CLR don't forget when you put it all back together the fuel line you put in the tank make sure it's a submersible fuel line

Those quick connects, on Kawasaki the barb has a coned lock and those quick connects are for a barb with a flat lock, any ideas? I know toyota 4 runner barbs are also coned and that quick connect won't lock on it. The coned barbs have a lock which is about 9mm and the flat barb lock is about 8mm so I was thinking to enlarge the quick connect lock seat with a drill bit of 9mm so that they fit Kawasaki, if not Kawasaki wants about $80 for those quick connects that cost $5 for 2 online. The motorcycle ETFE fuel line is now available at O'reilies for about $20 for a 12" stick which must be heated to shape.

Greetings, I am from Africa-Angola I have a bike like this but it fails mainly when I accelerate, I don’t know if it’s injection or power! help me.
@cunninghamgarage20744 жыл бұрын
I would start with checking your spark plugs and your throttle synchronization. Mine hesitates when you first hit the throttle and I think it's the synchronization of the throttle bodies

@cunninghamgarage20744 жыл бұрын
It should work. Just remember to use submersible fuel injection hose
@gregorypinkowski78094 жыл бұрын
He's using the wrong hose that's not rated for submersion in the tank. That's a seriously bad mistake. Can't use ordinary high-pressure fuel injection hose, as the outside will deteriorate when submerged after only a few years.
@watchmestress41823 жыл бұрын
Yep that crap was hard to find too. I did this mod to my TLR and ended up having to order it online for like $20/foot.

Fill your tank up with evaporust. It will dissolve all of the rust
@gregorypinkowski78094 жыл бұрын
He should have sawed off the bracket and the metal pipe at the top above the pump and just used a longer hose with 2 clamps instead of 2 hoses with 4 clamps.
