Suzuki Vitara wide boy fuel pump problem

1988 Suzuki Vitara 1600 wide boy auto I try to start it after it sitting for 18 years. Discover a fuel pump problem and convert to electric pump. Loads of videos to come on this vitara because it has many faults but getting it started is first. Brakes ,suspension ,paintwork. and upholstery to come in the following weeks as long as I can get the parts.No computers or modules on this car it is all old school OBD was not even a thing when this was made.

Hi did u fuel pump have too feeds to the carb got a fuel problem I think pumps not working sometimes but looks as if there is 2 feeds from itto carb thanks

The fuel pump has 3 pipes going to it, one goes to the carb, one is a feed from the fuel tank and the other is a return to the tank.If the pump is intermittent it is unlikely to be the pump it would be worth checking the fuel filter that is in the fuel line near the tank if this gets clogged up it can cause what you describe. There is no fuel return at the moment, I have to get a few parts together and I shall be connecting it. At the moment it is a temporary set up so I can move it in the yard. When I do connect it I shall put up another video. Thank you for watching.

@@makerepairbin I have a 1997 suzuki sidekick with Automatic transmission (3 gear action), the car is consuming petrol like crazy so I went to repair shop and repaired the carburetor but he said the fuel return system is locked, i thought I'll figure it out and connect it back myself. Many thanks buddy 🙏🤝👍 Oooh one last thing, I wish i could replace the transmission box with 4 or 5 gears to save fuel consumption and get higher speed as well

@@ahmedelkhawaga5813 The fuel return comes from the manual pump on the right rear of the engine and all it is is a pipe that goes to the top of the fuel tank. for it to be blocked it is likely to be rotten inside as it is a steel pipe. Try disconnecting from the tank and blow compressed air down the pipe from the pump end . if that does not clear it then replace the pipe. It is a bit of a pain to do as you have to drop the tank down to get at the pipe. Changing the gear box will not give you any more top speed changing the differentials to a higher ratio is the only way unless there is an overdrive unit available.
