Which is ironic bc she didn't have any confidence in herself but she was the beauty Howl was looking for this whole time. I also think that whenever she feels confident is when she turns young. It's almost as if this whole movie is actually about learning to be confident in yourself bc while you might think you're ugly there is always someone else who sees you as beautiful.

The nan form was a bit of a gift because she used it to hid her true self due to her lack of confidence. I completely agree. I also think Howl doesn't have a very high opinion of himself (outside of his appearance, and even that is something that he works hard to maintain). Likely will not happen. The last Studio Ghibli film was in 2014. Tales from Earthsea was Miyazakis last "proper" piece of work that didn't do very well compared to the rest of them. I can't remember what he said exactly but in an interview, Miyazaki said he felt he lost his passion for writing and tried forcing Tales from Earthsea and it didn't pan out very well. I believe he said he simply ran out of ideas. After the failure of that film, Miyazika left Studio Ghibli and stopped his work, that was in 2011. Films have come out since seeing as Studio Ghibli still exists but they're more or less at their whit's end without the man as the director. The fact 2014 was their latest film doesn't look good and the fact Miyazakis work was over 10 years ago adds to that. Who knows, someone who's got a brilliant mind may buy the studio and create some bangers, but nobody knows what's up with it at the moment. It's rumoured or believed that Disney now own the studio which is sad because they'll never produce anything any good; but I don't think it's confirmed. I don't think another SG film is impossible, but it's unlikely and even if one (or more) does come out...the golden age for Studio Ghibli is over for the most part. Unless of course like I said, someone with a mind like Miyazaki's picks it up; very unlikely though. There are 22 Studio Ghibli films I believe. If you haven't seen them all then I recommend checking them out. Kiki's Delivery Service and The Cat Returns are my two faves after this and Spirited Away.

@@maximusstorm1215 That's a lot of wrong information. The last Ghibli movie was in 2020, not 2014. The last feature film Miyazaki directed was The Wind Rises in 2013. He is currently working on How Do You Live. Also, he wasn't involved in Tales from Earthsea, it was his son, Goro Miyazaki, who directed and co-wrote that movie. Disney doesn't own Ghibli. Not sure where you are getting your "facts" from.
@maximusstorm12152 жыл бұрын
@@SaSemax Chill dude, maybe I got some stuff wrong. If you look, there is a lot of info talking about what I mentioned. A lot was just memory and I simply went to IMDB to look at all the Ghibli films, the ones you mentioned are not there. Miyazaki did leave the studio and Disney owning it was more a rumour, like I said. Miyazaki did retire but he has possibly got back into the business. I remember him not being happy about Tales from Earthsea. He did say in an interview at one point he felt he was running out of ideas, or words to the effect of. I didn't realise Goro did TFES, Japanese people use their second names so seeing "Miyaziki" come up just has you assume. Either way, Studio Ghibli's Golden age is over, it's fell off since Miyaziki got less involved, especially seeing as the 2020 film has a score of 4.8. I literally didn't know it existed. Also, when I said "their latest film" i meant "his latest film" as in Miyazaki....I was fully aware films had been released since 2014 as i remember watching Mary and the Witch's flower. I feel what I said is true but Miyazaki has simply got back into the business within recency and that is where the confusion is coming from because there was one point when he retired, claimed he was done and nobody really knew what was happening with the studio. That was around 2015 when I followed the Ghibli scene a lot. Since then I stopped following Ghibli films as they started to get worse and worse.

I have this reading of the film: When Howl makes the pact with Calcifer, and Sophie tells him that she knows how to help him, so he can look for her in the future, Howl didn't know what the problem was yet. He had just concluded the pact with Calcifer. Calcifer easily forgot about this event over the years, which is why he doesn't recognize Sophie when she reappears in the future. Howl went on with his life, getting involved with anyone who attracted him and could bring him knowledge about magic. He broke many hearts during that time. However, little by little he realized that his gift was also a curse. He was losing control and would soon become a monster, like the other sorcerers he saw. Then came the memory of childhood. From the girl saying that she knew how to solve this problem. That's when he goes after Sophie.

speak for yourself when you say men can't clean up after themselves. I clean up after myself and my fiancee. I'm also the only cook. I learned how to cook specifically to her tastes and to her needs, how to incorporate her health requirements into food she'll love. I cook, I clean, I write the grocery lists and she brings home the money. She brings home the bacon, I'm the one who cooks it and seasons it to perfection.

I wish Studio Ghibli did sequels cause I'd love to see them adapt Howl's Flying Castle as well.

It’s so funny, I watched this for the first time at 21 and I also got confused and was like “how did I not notice this person?” When they showed Sophie sleeping looking young hahaha

That is so funny, I actually watch this movie earlier in the afternoon, and so I watched it a second time with your reaction (fun and nice by the way) ! 😂 Such a great movie... 😍

I highly recommend reading the book it's based on! When watching I thought so many of the creative choices were ghibli's choice, but no! Basically everything except for a few story changes and the castle being different, the general feeling of the world and the characters are all the authors work!

Sophie reverts to her younger self when she feels confident. Her belief in herself is what ultimately breaks the spell.

I love this movie! Cassifer will let Sophie in the castle because Howl’s heart is in Cassifer. and Sophie turns old when she's not confident.

Thank you so much Suzy for I've been waiting for this movie reaction because I recommended it. 0:17 I see Steejo is also a big fan of Slipknot. That's my favorite song from them btw.

los directores de studio ghibli vivieron cuando eran pequeños la guerra en Japón y les marcó lo de las bombas, en casi todas las películas hay un ambiente de guerra y connotaciones de lo horrible que es vivir una

You should definitely watch it in its original Japanese dubbed version! One of the reasons why Japanese anime is so great is because of the voice acting profession. For example, the part at 28 minutes and 31 seconds should be spoken in a whisper!

Hayao Miyazaki was a young child during WWII. He was 4 years old when Hiroshima was bombed. Even that young, he certainly remembers the air raids and the drills, and the aftermath of the nuclear strikes. It's why there's so much anti-war messaging and imagery in the Ghibli films he produced. It's why you see airships and planes so often. There wasn't much fighting done on land in Japan-- it was almost all by air and sea. When you've seen enough older animation from Japan with very clear references to nuclear war and the after-effects of it, you notice it even in media created by the next generations, slightly abstracted. It's a cultural trauma that the entire country lives with, 80 years later.
