The merry-go-round gum is the purple substance that Giran spit out at Goku in their match which tied him up. Remember that's the stuff he couldn't break out of until his tail grew back.

Right. Also, though, it really is a reference to the time period. In the 80s, kids would ride push merry-go-rounds/carousels in their local parks. One kid would push the merry-go-round as fast as he/she could and try to jump on while it was spinning. The other kids would just sit (or stand while holding onto bars) on the merry-go-round while it was being pushed and just get dizzy. Regardless, though, like today, a lot of kids liked to chew gum, but chewing gum while on this major-injury-waiting-to-happen was not a good idea, and so they would often take it out and stick it on the underside of the contraption. It would eventually get as hard as a rock, similar to gum stuck on the underside of bleachers but worse because it was baking in the sun on hot metal (because merry-go-rounds were made of either aluminum or stainless steel).

Yamcha was in the desert as you say, but he had his base there, they showed him in his base once or twice, so he was always "within range" of it, as such he never got stranded without food/water/shelter.

Roshi still has 30,000 dollars. He didn't spend it all on the food bill. The turtle was off to see his relatives. Roshi said this episodes ago. To him it was the perfect opportunity to bring girls to the island when it's against his code and the turtle was keeping track. Yamcha was living out on his own fully capable of living in the desert and he was stealing from people. He can't do that no more with Bulma and living with her and doing what she wants minimized a lot of who he was before.

Did Suzy get expelled from school once? 🤭 This is a fascinating version of the show you're watching - I suppose the boxed sets include some things that the televised version of the show cut out. For example, in this episode, that song that played while Goku and Nam were riding on the nimbus cloud wasn't there when this episode was on TV; I distinctly remember there wasn't any background music at all, let alone any singing or lyrics, during that sequence. For the most part though, like 99% of everything else shown so far seems seems exactly the same - it's just some occasional details! I like Giran; he's a bully and a cheater, but he's definitely not a villain at heart. He's like that miscreant uncle who picks a fight at the bar (sorry, the "pub") but also spoils his nieces and nephews at Christmas.

In dragonball's world, don't assume there is only one moon, nor assume the moon won't come back appearing again, just like goku's tail. It's just a story, and there are lots of dinosaurs and aliens anyway. Master Roshi always knows Goku is an alien.

That rabbit on the moon was only supposed to be there long enough to make enough marshmallow rabbits to last a year. There was a time skip in the training, so at some point goku may have been able to get them off the moon. They are never mentioned again. The creator is notorious for forgetting certain characters and events

Roshi is a master of weirdness 😂 while Nam is a master of resilience😮. Goku has a proper career fitment in infrastructure development rather fighting for entertainment. Those big dragons who berate Goku feel like middle management. Roshi going to women's innerwear clothing store and asking sales assistant questions is his open mindedness. In an ideal situation The lady should ask who he's buying the clothes since it's odd for a man to hangout in such a place.

So the least spoilery of these bonus notes: - The Rabbits: left floating through space after the Moon was destroyed. The phrasing, contrasted with others, makes it clear they were supposed to have survived, somehow. Oh, also, there was an NES game where a dragonball wound up on the Moon somehow, and Goku went up there and met them again, where they'd hired some space mercinary, Krilien, the alien Krillin. ... Mostly because Krilien's clothes were like Krillin's? - Ranfan (the one from the tournament who tried distracting people with her feminine act): She apparently gave up her lifestyle and settled down to get married, to some guy named Trunks.

When asked: Toriyama actually said he forgot about Monster Carrot on the moon. So yeah, Toriyama doesn't exactly have a plan when he's writing things sometimes; and I don't blame him with a manga that comes out weekly; that's known to send mangakas (Manga authors) into the hospital. People take Dragon Ball way too seriously sometimes.

I think Toriyama deliberately separates gag characters from serious characters in a way that makes that an easy whoops to make. Also, he did write some "where are they now?" thingies for all the past opponents a bit later, and described some characters as being in the land of the dead, but the rabbits as unhappily floating through space after the destruction of the Moon. So I think that makes it word-of-god that they survived somehow ;) .

About the moon, I am glad you didn't thought about it more 😂 coz then you will realize that pieces of asteroids falling on earth would have at least killed thousands plus the impact on climate, days and nights, weather, ocean, gravity, etc. It would be an absolute chaos

This is a plot hole. The dragon balls shouldn’t be detectable yet. They can’t be detected during their cooldown period, and they should still be in their cooldown period since this is less than a year after the dragon balls were used at the end of the Pilaf Saga. Remember, the tournament was only 8 months after Goku started training under Roshi, which was immediately after the dragon balls were used and Goku destroyed Pilaf’s castle as a giant monkey. So the dragon balls should still be stone right now.
