Nice video guys. I have been using these covers for a few years now, and am happy with them. However, after returning to the boat in Mexico last week, I noticed the forward hatch cover was broken and most of it had blown over the side. It had been in place about 3-4 years. Outland I think mentions about removing them in strong winds, and that is good advice. Of course, I left the cover in place to block out the sun down here, and strong winds can and will occur anytime. Oh well. I do plan on replacing the cover.

Thanks Bajatrawler. You should give Outland a call. I saw another video in which someone lost a couple hatch covers crossing the Pacific. Outland had their boat specs on file and shipped them new ones to Australia.

I use Sunbrella covers woth bungee cord sewn in the seam. Keeps out the sun and covers the whole hatch! Works great!!!

As one other had mentioned. I wondered about high winds and seas.

I believe the Outland website says that the hatch covers should be removed when sailing or in high winds. As you can see from Bajatrawler's comment, they may break or fly off in strong winds.

Hey Doug, Outland does recommend removing them when underway, but difficult to speak on those sneaker squalls that hit you when you're tied up or anchored out. I imagine it was a case of the 3M VHB adhesive dots failing after years of use in the tropics.

The knobs came from Outland with the hatch covers.
