Thanks man. I'd seen a bunch about it online but not a walk through of all the parts in this format. I figure if I'm doing it anyway, might as well put it out there to maybe help out someone else tackling similar projects.

@@drew657 I have a 17' SV that I ride on the street and do some track days. What is your take on the Spears Racing 1/5 turn throttle tube for street use? TIA

D B Honestly, I cant say yet. I’ve ridden it a grand total of around the block twice haha. It’s definitely a big change. I can see it being easy enough to adapt to, but not really lying any dividends except for on the track

Nice Drew.! Have a 94 GSXR 750. With a tired motor. So I slammed in a 01 1200 bandit motor. Tight. It's eBay low buck. But fun.

@@drew657 Just got back riding it. I need to get some plugs. #4 fouled on me few times. Starts misfiring about 95 mph.It 5 gear. I'll get there.

Rock on, man! If you've got a plug fouling, you may need to play with carb jetting, or rebuild them, and make sure you don't have an oil leak from like a valve seal or bad rings.

@@drew657 put 250 miles on hasn't leaked a drop. I think I might not have enough gas reaching bowls had to move the petcock hole 1200 Harley petcock bung barely fit. OEM was way too big .It's the plugs. There the ones the came in this motor I bought for 200.00 on CL last nov.. talk about cheep.

@@brianjacobsen5762 I meant a leak around the valve seals inside the head, dropping into the cylinder and burning up, caking onto the plug electrodes and fouling it. Just keep putting miles on it and see what it does!

mriley1980 😂 I’ll get to it haha! I took it for a shakedown ride and the brakes locked up. Rebuild the master cylinder and calipers and went back out, and they locked up again. Solution TBD but I’ve got a couple ideas. I lost to Instagram more often, @marteney1

I haven't been able to ride mine more than just around the block yet, but solution so far is to use a GPS speedometer app on my phone, with a bar-mount phone holder. I used the QuadLock system, as I've already been using that phone case for years. I removed the stock gauge cluster on mine, so I can't use the stock one anyway. Alternatively, here's a forum thread that talks about doing the GSXR front swap, and there's information in there about how to adapt the stock speedo pickup to use a hall sensor and magnets. forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=204773

Will the vstrom cables work with the s throttle housing

Yes, the Vstrom throttle cables have the same attachments at both ends as the S throttle. The N throttle housing at the handlebar has a different attachment method, so it uses different cables.

@@drew657 Awesome. I must have missed that part. I have the Vstrom cables and housing as well, I couldn't get it to adjust properly . Looking at yours I may try again. My set up is very similar. I added bar risers from my KTM300 and drilled into the triple, added the same bars. I don't have inverted forks tho. Thanks for the great video.

@@madethisaccountfor65 I have my cable housings adjusted as long as they'll go, and there's still a little more throttle free play than I'd like, but I haven't tried to adjust them where they meet the throttle bodies yet. You might try to back those out all the way too. As far as the risers go, I'd be hesitant to drill out the S top triple, there's not a lot of meat there and it'll weaken it. Hate to have you crank on it to avoid something and the bars snap off in your hand. You can go with N triples, but you'll need a full set since they have a different offset from the S triples, or there are several people making aftermarket triples with risers. @@drew657 Two years ago I drilled the holes (2) and no problems so far. I'm old and don't drive hard or far. The stock Triple is pretty meaty and seems to be holding fine. I wish I could show you a picture of the work I've done so far. Very basic. My bars are higher than yours by at least two inches. SB
