There is something about this video. I have watched every Delos video from the very beginning all the way through and this one is the one. A perfect depiction of Delos vibes. The mix of Andrew Rothschild's ambient music, the elation of the crew, the time of day; the sun at that absolute perfect position in the sky, the stunning landscape and the promise of a brand new adventure only moments away. I have seen this episode many many times, and it always generates a stir of adrenaline inside me; You have captured a magical moment that will exist always through this platform.

Wow I agree 1000% I've seen every episode more than a few times and this is my favorite. Especially the Takin it Easy remix at the end of the episode. Hope B or Kazza sees this and tells me where I can find that amazing version.

Couldn't agree more. Been watching the Delos crew for some years now and yet every once in a while I come back to this episode. Watched it many times. There's something about the wonder of the arrival after the passage, the isolated beauty of the place, the intense feeling of this being a once in a lifetime experience that makes it stand out and above so many others. The rest of the Chagos videos are pretty good too...

My first boat was bought with the help of Ms Lyra Holt Dean. Sailing is thousands of years old and we continue this long-lasting, intriguing and at the same time dangerous tradition! Throughout history sailing has helped various civilizations to develop and prosper as people sailed accross oceans to settle in new undiscovered areas. Each time we set a sail it’s as if you could feel the same excitement, uncertainty and craving for adventure as it used to be thousands of years ago. In a way sailing is like a bridge connecting us with times long lost.

Awesome video Delos. I crossed the Indian Ocean a few years ago from Bali to Mauritius on a Swan 51': 3,400nm in 19 days with a top speed of 250nm in 24 hours... we had big winds. I've been a subscriber for a LONG time (since nearly the beginning). When Blue joined the crew I unsubscribed for a bit because they were SO BORING but re-upped 6 months or so ago. I don't check out every episode but have watched the last few. Today I re-visited this episode. My favorites are from this time period. It seems like everyone was having fun, laughing, playing, partying and now things are just nice photography and slick editing. I miss this crew in particular. I agree. To me SV Delos videos are the pinnacle of cruising videos by which I measure all others. I do watch several but crave the Delos vids. I was quite surprised to notice Sailing la Vagabond had so many more subscribers. Nothing wrong with Sailing la Vagabond, their videos are great too, but why there is such a gap in the number of subscribers evades me. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that your videos are a year behind. Anyway keep up the good work Delos.

Great to see it hasn’t changed much in 30 years. The unofficial yacht club still there ! No wrecks when we where there. Did the navy come by to check up on you? They where great ,medical checks, supplied staples and back in snail mail days took your mail and posted for you. Was a few chooks there as well back in 89’. Did you ever hear the story of the crazy Austrian loo sailor who the Americans asked to leave who spent a week sailing around the edgemonts preparing for his trip to Maldives . He had collected heaps of coconut crabs to eat and they where seen bunched up on his top spreader 😂😂.. great memories. Thanks crew

I do have a special feeling for Chagos.... This will be my main spot to visit while at sea one day! see some reference to understand why... :) and Yes my name is João Chagas :). Portuguese explorers were the first Europeans to discover the archipelago. The Portuguese navigator Pedro de Mascarenhas (1470-23 June 1555) is credited with having discovered the islands during his voyage of 1512-13. Portuguese seafarers named the group as Bassas de Chagas, Portuguese: Chagas (wounds) referring to the Holy Wounds of the crucifixion of Jesus. They named as well some of the atolls, such as Diego Garcia and Peros Banhos Atoll, mentioned as Pedro dos Banhos in 1513 by Afonso de Albuquerque. Unfortunately, neglected by the Portuguese, this lonely and isolated group, economically and politically uninteresting at the time, was never made part of the Portuguese Empire. Loved the video! PS: Got Delos T-SHIRT!!!! Will post a pic soon!

Yeah. It's a tragic story. I'm actually Ilôis (Chagossian) myself. The British slaughtered all our pets, destroyed our homes and exiled us from the islands to make way for an army base. This all happened in the 60's-70's, way before I was born, so I'm glad that you made this video because it allows me to see the true beauty of the islands. Hope this comment helped people understand the controversy. I've always wanted independence but I think the Portuguese would have treated us better.

It’s very sad to see all the wrecks though and I (And I’m sure very many others) would love to know the stories behind each and every loss, not out of a sense of ghoulishness, but as a warning and an education to help preventing more like them in the future.... Thanks for posting, hope everyone is well, safe and happy!
