His soles are likely leather, as are the uppers. Back in the 1950s when just about all shoes were entirely leather, people did amazing things gliding across a dance floor. The wooden surface was lightly sprinkled with a special type of powdered wax, which gave you the perfect combination of slip and traction. If you went to a family wedding back then, the women's feet would give out around 1a.m., and they would retire barefoot to the edges of the room to rest their pinched toes. Then the band would get it's second wind and the real dancing would start, with the men jitterbugging in the center of the floor in their suits and loosened ties. Their wild male energy and pure joy were incredible. This reminds me a lot of those old days.

Whenever i see a dance battle choreo on TV in one of those "talent" shows I just can't help but notice how stiff their movements are while this fella has a natural gift to link his moves together with such a smoothness I highly doubt anybody could learn it by only practicing. You're either born with that mojo or you're not. And even IF you're born with it, you will STILL have to practice countless hours/days/weeks and years to flesh out that skill to the level that is shown here. I'd feel embarassed dancing next to him really and I already put hundreds of hours in when my mates and I still used to go out to the clubs. He's just on another level and way out of reach :-)

You are correct! A person could get pretty good at it but it's unlikely most would look like this. I've only seen one or two that even come close. Some of this is natural talent. Most people look much stiffer doing it. He's self-taught - and he did it just for the love of dance in his own room. The ability to combine all those movements at one time, and to look loose doing it, and to be that good at it - means he has deep internal mojo. As well as a certain amount of natural athleticism - because that is demanding.

Every time I watch a video I become more and more impressed. I particularly love these earlier videos where Sven is so loose and truly groovin’ with the music. He’s having a great time! He’s not trying to impress anyone. Sven is dancing for himself … and us!!!

Benditos 90,s. Un saludo.

Yuriandro It the camera and your eyes playing tricks, his legs are completely normal, right up until they start moving. Near as I can tell, the lens might be the problem because I see it too.
