Montoya was better than people remember. Watching him almost win at Dover in 2013 was a lot of fun and he’s was strong in a lot of oval races, but luck wasn’t on his side. Same with Ambrose. And both ended their careers with 2 wins a piece. Don’t see why SVG can’t at least back that. And I hope this isn’t the end. I’d love to see this lure Alonso among others in the future for at least a couple races. And still waiting for Helio to get his start. If it gets Lewis or Max to come for at least a race, that’s a real W.

Dale Jr is becoming one of the best interviewers around. One thing that struck me as SVG was talking about the weight of the race car. SVG said it "weighs 300kg". Than he apologized for not knowing how to convert. Dale Jr said "that is ok I do not know either". That is a very classy move because it shows on both sides they do not know how to convert it. The answer is that 300kg is 667 pounds approx..

In all the years of watching SVG in interviews I have never seen him so relaxed, open and talkative in the interviews. Cant blame the guy for wanting to leave and go somewhere he can enjoy racing and not be harassed (cant ever recall seeing him get out of a race car and smile so much). When we lose him him maybe the Australian media and Supercars management might realise their arrogance, but I doubt it.

I just cannot believe how much media he has done recently, and how good he has been to listen to. He's always been laid back, chill, likeable, but usually says bugger all. The opposite of entertaining, kind of a kiwi Kimi (I mean that in a good way). The best interview he ever had was the morning after a Bathurst win which he was hungover, said nothing and vomited

I think Shane’s going to be very dominant in nascar. Finally we can see someone with raw talent that didn’t buy their way into the sport. There’s a couple guys with raw talent Kyle Busch for example.

Just finished watching the truck race. First time in that truck, first time on an ashphalt oval. Runs as high as 15th, finishes 19th and the truck is straight. Says it was a load of fun and then beats himself up for making a wrong setup call at the end and losing four spots and going a lap down. I think he could be a little less hard on himself. Lol.

It's insane that NASCAR insists on double file restarts at road courses. Most of the cautions thrown at road circuits are unnecessary to begin with. And while double file works fine on banked ovals with a two wide groove, it just leads to more and more incidents on. road circuits. We got to watch a good clean exciting race in Chicago, but it's just going to be giant bottlenecks at T1 indy. Let the guys races, no stupid NASCAR gimmicks, and let the best man win!

With all the talk of SVG coming to NASCAR and talk about no Charters being available I have a thought they start 40 cars and there are 36 Charters so there are four available non Charter starting positions I really think a good quality team with a good quality driver could make practically every race of the season and I know the not chartered cars do not get paid very well and they would also have a very hard time attracting sponsors but I'm positive a good quality team could get this done I know there are lots of reasons to be negative about this but I think a good team could overcome this and if they did and were successful imagine what that would do to the negotiations for the next Charter system and I really think Dale should enter a select few races himself with an on chartered car just to get his feet wet I would like to hear some discussion about this anyway it's just a thought

They race 2-4 times in those 12 weekends last year they ran 32 races with svg winning 21 just say you’re a hater man The bathurst 1000 is a 7 hour race much more attrition that any cup race

I think thats the exact reason he wants to come. He wants to be in a racecar every weekend. He loves it. If hes not doing a weekend in the Supercars, he is either in Rally Car, a sprint car, a drift car, a go kart, or off to Daytona, Le Mans, back to New Zealand to win the Grand Prix ftom the pit lane just for fun and now off to the US, cup cars, trucks it doesnt matter. Just to get into a race car of any type. He just wants to be racing and learning. I think the schedule will be just his thing. Dont be surprised to see him hopping into a sprintcar or something on a rare weekend off. Lol.

Brodie’s entry had been in the pipeline for a while, Shane’s entry to Indy was fairly last minute, also it probably costs less. Supercars is running its Superview sponsorship BECAUSE of Shane’s success, he has made the series more popular in a huge marketplace.

Because he doesnt tow the Supercars corporate line. He said just what the other drivers were thinking and the shiny bums at Supercars didnt like it. So he clammed up and said he would let his driving do the talking and they didnt like that either. Supercars as a company (read Mark Skaife) just want drivers to smile and say how wonderful everything is. God forbid anyone say anything negative.
