Hello Andy. I'm so sorry to hear that you had to test those crash pads, never a good thing. Anyway, just wanted to leave you a side note. On my previous 2009 FZ1-N, I had the chance of dropping it to the side, while standing still. For some reason, my brain thought that my foot had 'pulled out' the side stand, but.. turns out it didn't. So the bike went flat on the ground. Saddest day of the year. Searching for scratches on the bike, I found nothing relevant. Fuel tank was as new (that was a relief). After a couple of months, a bit of oil started to leak from that big center bolt from the magnet rotor cover. It was cracked but I couldn't tell at the time. Just ordered a new one, replaced it and problem got solved. Anyway, thought you might wanted to know. Cheers mate, safe -ride- quarentine!

Very good. The Germans make some very nice CNC machined lovliness. I've just fitted some GSG mototechnic crash bobbins. Not as streamlined, but I suspect all these things are more for low speed drops vs full on throw your bike down the road action. 100% commitment showing field testing. Very impressive! :-)
@AndyManCam4 жыл бұрын
Yeah i agree. But then after a proper crash, i wouldn’t expect to get much use out of the bike anyway!

I was just about to put up a comment saying ' 420 Euros - Ouch!! ' When I thought I'd just listen, again, to what you said. ' A full 120 Euros ' sounds much more realistic, especially, as they look really well made.
@AndyManCam4 жыл бұрын
That would be a little overpriced! They are exceptionally well made though. Typical for SW in my experience.

Those are nice sliders, no doubt. Having said that, they will not safe you from calling a tow truck 'after' a slide down the road looking at your unprotected radiator..........😱😭🤦♂️ Safe rides 👍🏍
@AndyManCam4 жыл бұрын
I think it's more about saving the engine covers, frame and tank. after any slide down the road, it's probably going to be a tow truck situation. But good when the bike isn't a complete wreck afterwards!
@Herzankerkreuz674 жыл бұрын
@@AndyManCam Yes sadly true. Even though our bikes are getting heavier every year they also seem to get more fragile in the wrong places in order to 'safe' weight at the wrong spots. Many modern motorcycles won't even forgive just a simple falling over without a potential oil leak due to a busted side cover, not even mentioning a slide over asphalt.

For me to install crash protection it needs to protect the bike in a crash, these look great, but your spill was about as minor as you can get, the bike basically fell over whilst stationary, but your bike sustained minor damage, which really needs repairing as well as ruining the slider. Do you think the damage would have been avoided or been less with the crash bars?
@AndyManCam4 жыл бұрын
In this Case, i actually don’t think so. My situation was very odd because the bike was on the curved edge of the road. Had it been a flat surface (obviously with normal road camber) there would have been no damage. Also i had to drag the bike a bit to get any purchase in order to lift it 🤦🏻♂️. Obviously there would always be Less damage with engine bars than with sliders, but then they’re much bigger and heavier so you decide between aesthetics or protection.

So I take it these things stick far enough out to protect the tank if it tips over on a flat surface? Looking into buying some as I just purchased an FZ1 Fazer in mint condition and I want to do everything I can to protect it. It's the dreambike I always wanted to own. Or would you recommend the crash bars over this?
@AndyManCam4 жыл бұрын
Sure the crash bars will give you the most protection. But i can sadly confirm that these sliders will keep the tank off the floor of the bike falls over.
