Yamaha literally has god tier engineers, they tuned the LFA exhaust for Toyota/Lexus to sound musical, and figured out how to make normal wood sound like wood that's been aged for hundreds of years that other high end piano makers use in their $100k+ pianos

@@Daniel-dj7fh theres a reason LFA's cost 50% more than they did 10 years ago and r8's from 10 years ago cost 50% less. the r8 is a german sportscar dressed like a supercar. its a 911 without the pedigree, or a marked up corvette/r35 in inoffensive executive trim.

I'm a bit of a Yamaha fanboy myself, but of an entirely different breed - I learned on a V Star 250, thrashed a SR 400, and now have a V Star 950 Tourer that I took 2,000 mile road trip with on a weekend. Legit spent 40 hours on the saddle within a week. That V Star 950 has over 35k miles on the clock and still chugging. I can confirm, I'm not sure Yamaha could make a bad bike if they tried.

If anyone is looking for a used FJR 1300, most reliable and trouble free models were made between 2008 and 2012. On the 2008 model they sorted out their gearbox to be fool proof (it helps since you never know how it was abused by a previous owner and it was a bit of a soft spot before that). Generator, wiring, radiator and cooling issues were sorted just before that. But after 2012 they went for restyling and started jamming more and more electronics into it. If you want to be able to fix almost everything yourself in the very unlikely scenario when something goes wrong - 2008 to 2012 production years are ideal. Later models require competent mechanics at your local Yamaha dealer.

I'm about to turn 64 and I'm 5' 11." I had a GS750E 40 years ago. I bought my MT-03 seven months ago and there was no riding in between. So I'm a born-again beginner, I guess. You're right about a lot of things regarding the bike's negatives but equally correct that for some people, they are positives. I bought the bike because I wanted to replace my daily driver car. Lower fuel consumption. Lower maintenance cost. Lots more fun. Smaller but still a full sized bike. Perfect for the city. With the population explosion in our area, the freeway has become our own local Thunder Dome and I have little interest or need to venture forth with only two wheels thereupon. All the skills I didn't know when I had my 750 I am now learning on the MT, and it's all coming fast because the bike is a learning machine. I can't imagine a bike that could make skill building easier or more fun. And with our rather relaxed little city and our lovely country roads, the bike is great fun and, as you say, hard to get hurt on. For me, it's only drawback is that, while it is great therapy, it's not a relaxing thing to ride. Even around town, it screams that it wants to go faster. It's just happier above 6000 rpm. I don't get to do that much and I don't really want to. It only chills out audibly when going downhill where are the revs can drop to 3000 or so. It just sounds cranky. After a couple years with the MT-03 I'll either learn to relax with the screaming during long country drives or I'll be looking for something a little bigger, a little heavier, with a longer wheelbase and a gentler voice. For now, I have a lot to learn about riding. By the way, it will get a wheelie up. I saw a guy do it, so I'll get it eventually. What I really want is a stoppie! Rock on Papa Noob!

I remember that my father had an FJR1200 from the early 2000's and coming back from the Valencia GP in 2006 we were passing the guys on their GSXR's, ZXR's, CBR's, R1's and whatnot like if we were changing channels while watching TV. I also remember seeing the faces of those guys looking so tired and their backs hurting while my father and I would be sitting comfortably and barely affected by the wind. I'm also quite sure that as soon as I have the money I will replace my Ninja 400 with an MT07 or MT09 (or maybe the XSR900). Yamaha is also my favorite brand!

And the other one is the tallboy Tracer 9 GT. As I'm to tall and big for any of the sportbikes or naked bikes I have to go to the sports tourers - And that's where the Tracer 9 shines like a big red diamond in the Motorcycle market.

+1 on Yamaha being The Best right now. Honda seem to be super boring (Rebel) or crazy (CBR R100RR-RRRR etc), Suzuki show promise (GSX8, VStrom 800, GSXS 100GT etc) & Kawasaki have tempting examples like the Ninja 1000SE & Versys 1000 SE LT+. But Yamaha seem to have the right balance &, of course, those great cross plane engines....so good that I bought one!

Yammie I just viewed several videos that Yamaha is bringing back the RD350 two-stroke motorcycle for 2025 as an LC version with fuel-injection and a host of upgrades. If this is for real, I will burn rubber to my Yamaha dealer to buy one immediately. Research this for us all to follow!

An e-clutch?? wtf
@NoBaconForYou
@NoBaconForYou 2 ай бұрын
@@BlackSlimShady It prevents stalling and makes it so you dont have to use the clutch lever when you stop, and it is this ugly box sticking out of the side of the bike. My main issue is that you have to disable it every time you start the bike. If you could turn it off permanently and it didnt look ugly, i would still get the CBR

Why would you buy an MT09-SP when the XSR900 exists?
@paulhope3401

When you are under 50... and/or want cruise control, a more upright riding position or just don't buy into the neo retro thing of a MT09 trying to look like something from 40 years ago.

All of the great Hondas are out of production. There were some GREAT bikes but now it’s either an EXPENSIVE highway cruiser (why not just buy a car?) or a Monkey. Great company. I love my Accord but who wants a bike that some bookkeeper might just cancel?

I’d really love to get a first bike but not sure where to turn at this point. I’m a 38 year old 5’11” 240 lb guy who’s never ridden more than an early ‘90s trail bike as a teenager. Do I go with a sport cruiser? Just go all out and go cruiser? (love the idea of a sport bike but am convinced I would look obnoxious and ridiculous on one - too old; too big.) Live in a rural subdivision outside San Antonio, TX, if it matters.

At last someone who teaches that the mt09 is not a beginner motorcycle and that the twitchiness and wheelie madness can take over even with experienced riders, i truly do not like how the motorcycle industry is selling death machines and widow makers to millennials without warning them that tyhese 'beginner bikes' are more sensitive and powerful than the ones Giacomo Agostini and Barry Sheene rode on the circuits back in the day
