This video is very useful, i was planning to have upper and lower crash bars for my tenere, but after this video, i think lower bars are enough and will do the job, thank you very much
@mrt99413 жыл бұрын
The upper bars allow for additionnal stiffness, it prevents the lower from bending when the bike is dropped.

On both casesthe handle bar is preventing the bike from leaning any farther. Remember you won't always crash your bike in flat terrain so i would go for full crash bars. Is on my list to buy next. I will go for tusk crash bars since they affordable.

Is that also the SW motek bash guard? Thinking about the lower guard like yourself but trying to determine bash guard compatibility as I want one with linkage protection.

No, it's Yamaha one which sells additionally for non rally versions. You may weld some plate to it to have linkage protection. Otherwise you have to check compatibility carefully.

Looks like you’ve got all the weight on the end of the handlebars ... should of turned the handlebars so that the weight was all on the crash bars.
@RaimundasBaronas3 жыл бұрын
Good notice, they do take pressure too. But lower crash bar was completely flat on the ground, so nothing changes there to be honest except front wheel dips closet to the ground once you spin the handle bar. Thank you.
@lookingfromtheoutsidein39823 жыл бұрын
@@RaimundasBaronas what I expect to happen in the event of a slide is that the bike will be sliding completely on the side, the unsupported OEM bars likely are bending inward on the slide and potentially indenting the tank or causing scratches on the tank. there is an American or Australian YT channel who noticed after drops that the OEM crash bars will bend inwards on impact. Essentially at that point you likely have to replace at least the bars is not more. That's my unexperienced guess.
@RaimundasBaronas3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, these are not OEM crash bars, but I bet they could bend in a serious crash. For TET riding I really love mine, they do protect very well on easy drops, hope I never get to test them on high speed crash.
@lookingfromtheoutsidein39823 жыл бұрын
@@RaimundasBaronas i hope so too and all that matters is that you are happy with them. I just shared what I saw in another review and in general my understanding of physics and what happens to unsupported metal after impact. Nice bike and you sure enjoy the ride without ever having a high impact on any of your bike parts! - Cheers

Of course. Every crash is indivudual. I had many of them last year, always offroad, never on high speed, always less than let's 40km/h and worked really well. One side has a slight bend towards engine though. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Have you guys had the unfortunate opportunity to test these in a real crash/drop yet?
@RaimundasBaronas3 жыл бұрын
Not in a serious crash, but in quite a few low speed ones and many drops while offroad. All what takes the impact is crash bars and handles. I once managed to bend handles so it was quite fast offroad drop, but body had not suffered.

The conclusion is faulty... Usually when the bikes go down, the bars are "closed" and only the lowers would probably not be enough to protect the plastics
@RaimundasBaronas3 жыл бұрын
Shame I did not cross handlebars in video. Clearance from the ground to plastics does not change, but of course, as more metal frame - as safer for various situations. Only question remains is it really worth it. Thank you for comment.
@HugoFerreira24photo3 жыл бұрын
@@RaimundasBaronas The clearance changes on dinamic situations (when the bike is moving). Had the yamaha oem ones on order, and after going to the shop and seing a t7 with them fitted (fell to the left side, the bike slid for less than 1meter, chew through the top of the plastics (above yamaha badge), I quickly changed my mind... Got mine being prepared as we speak :)
