Thanks for your response, Joey. Over the years, I have studied the specs of the Boeing 737 design, and this aircraft has never failed to amaze me! The truth about 737s is that they were initially designed for short takeoffs and landings, back when they were first introduced in the late '60s era. I would consider this aircraft design to be an oversized commuter plane. The trouble is, because of their weight they cannot serve at all of the small airports. That's where the RJs come in to play.

One thing else, Joey, regarding Boeing's airliners. First off, I can't help but agree with you on the pilot skills and training. But most of the 737s, especially the short-bodied versions flown by Southwest, all pretty much use the same amount of runway - about 3,000 to 5,000 feet - for both arrival and departure. And like the 737, the much heavier and larger 757 is also designed for short takeoffs and landings - despite having almost twice the MGTW of its little brother. Amazing, ain't it?

its not the spoilers, its the ailerons moving from the pilot controlling the plane. if im not mistaken, the ailerons move when the pilot has control, and when they dont move and the plane turns, the autopilot is controlling it.

@Pober135 im still studyin but i already got my private lic and instrument rating ! i still need to finish commercial and graduate from uni! and ive been on a 737 800 sim !! b4 i used to think the same that rudders control the turn !! but no its actually the HC of lift !!! if u realize when u make a turn the airplane actually loose some lift and the airplane nose has a tendency to drop.. thats because the lift is been used to turn thats why you have to pitch up when you are in a turn
@ld880014 жыл бұрын
@dreampilot2 no!! its the horizontal component of lift wat makes an airplane turn !! the rudder is used to make the turn stable !!

No KIDDING!!! The runways at Midway are all less than 7,000 feet long. Not much room for error there, you know. But then, 737s are designed for short takeoffs and landings - just like a commuter or regional jet would be. In fact, back in late 1994 - at Houston's IAH airport terminal, and prior to Southwest's pullout from that airport - I witnessed a 737-300 of Southwest use less than 3,000 feet of runway for takeoff - less than what an American Eagle SAAB 340 or ATR72-500 uses for takeoff!

Its like that here at SMF and in CLE! No waiting in line to take-off.

@srsparky32 wat makes an airplane turn is the horizontal component of lift !!

Nice party speed on the runway for takeoff, but the partying speed on the runway before liftoff was kinda too short.

ok, try to turn the plane left or right to a heading of 250 from say ...330. using just the rudder ...yeah thats right you cant. sure the rudder turns the plane left or right but not like the ailerons do. i was not clear on this.

why do the spoilers go up a little bit during take-off? nice video aswell :D

@Pober135 im a pilot!! and you are definitely wrong.. btw to turn a 737 while taxing the pilot have a small wheel on the left side !! and yeah you are right about the ailerons.. but after you put the airplane on a bank the horizontal component of lift is the one making the airplane turn.. the rudder is just to make it stable.. take some aviation classes or ask any pilots and they will also tell you that your wrong

@dreampilot2 omg...rudder dosent turn the plane left or right.

Dude comment number two! First dude the control surface moves weather the AP is flying or Pilot! (dud) You say under AP the ailerons DON'T move!!! One question PC aviator, if under AP the ailerons don't move then how the fuck dose plane move. It is the ailerons that make the pressure difference to get the plane to move. So I guess your saying the AP uses different control surfaces or maybe just the trim controls.

you dont have to have a fucking pilots license to know how a plane works. fuck. why does everybody on yt have to bring hate

Wow super stupid comment! Congrats! First you say the rudder can't move the plane left or right. When in fact that is what it is for! Then right after (LOL) you say sure the planes rudder turns left and right. (Make up your mind hahaha) Of course the ailerons do a better job but in real life both are use. Last you say the plane can't move with just rudder when in fact giving time, even a 1 degree yaw adjustment would steer aircraft over time.
