the original Tumble Bug survives in Florida the 1st swamp buggy created by George Espenlaub's brother Ed Frank. Ed Frank is credited as being the inventor of the swamp buggy. George Espenlaub operated one of the first guide services in the Florada everglades in the 1950s. They were fitted with aero plane wheels with balloon tyres. to give flotation southern fun that matches the terrain totally unique. for speed more power and skinny wheels to cut through the water and paddle rears.

The water is about 2 ft deep. However, there are a couple points on the 'track' where it sinks down to 4-5ft deep. (called a 'sippy hole'). The particular class of swamp buggy he is driving is fast enough which you can glide over that deep area.

@Blacomerjo Strictly for racing. These types of swamp buggies evolved from the ones that have a practical purpose; traversing the Everglades. Usually for hunting. However, they have fatter tires and just sort of mosey along at a leisurely pace of around 10 mph. The hunters started racing theirs for fun in the 1940's and eventually folks started building them just for the races.

not true, were just not as adept as the brits, but look at the roads you drive compared to ours, the TR6 is perfect for a windy english country road, just like a challenger is perfect for a long road trip down a straight american highway, plus the sky and solstice are fantastic roadsters, not lotus quality or anything but they also cost about half the price.

On some V8 motors, the 2nd and 3rd exhaust ports (from the cyl head) share the one outlet.
@JETZcorp2 жыл бұрын
It's been a LOOONG time since they made any like that. On something like a small block Chevy (or Chrysler) they'll have the 2nd and 3rd exhaust ports close to each other, but the shared port thing is real old. Usually side-valve engines.

LOL I'm loving all the comments of people talking crap about swamp buggies and Americans but the facts are that these things are 100% handmade nothing is bought everything even down to bolts are made the only thing that is purchased is parts for the engines which have more science behind them than Nascar or Indy car they cost a very large amount of money somewhere upwards of $100,000 I've been raising them for a few years now and I can tell you it takes a whole lot of Science and Engineering to get these things to do what they do we have a team that even brings their budget and NASA to use in a wind tunnel to see how the water flows around the buggy and they may be ugly but every single part of them has a purpose

I think both are too different to compare. The fact they race and have 4 wheels is the only comparison. I like both. Nascar is deeply strategical if you take the time to look into it. F1 is just superfast but watching an entire race for 2, 3 maybe 4 passes. isn't really that great either.

I agree. It cracks me up, the idiots dont have any of the seasons on DVD, it blows my mind. Now a couple of years into KZbin they decide KZbin is a good idea.. Maybe in 10 years the BBC will decide to release Top Gear Seasons on DVDs, yes, that dont require a format converter and authorization from the Queen of England..
