That is a Clathrus ruber fungi or aka basket stinkhorn I believe @2:43 - smells like rotting meat alright. And that black stuff is the gleba. I’m still learning the Florida nature here but that’s my best guess.

Great series of video, enjoyed watching them. I take it you're somewhere central Florida, probably the northern part of central Florida. There are pockets where it can get quite cold, at least compared to what people expect. But again, a great series of videos, I hope you do more as there isn't a lot of survival type of videos from Florida.

so cool thank you! I live in south florida and have been wanting to live off the land for a while, anyway you could make a list of some necessary tools you reccomend?

My questioning after finding your outstanding videos are who are you? Your background and how did you learn so much about this subjects. Great video and will check out flatlander😊

I don't quite get it. If there were no crawdads in your trap (and the fish head was still there) then what was taking your fishing bait? I've had very little success using an unattended line. I always find something to keep me busy (in your case, whittling a spoon, making a crawdad trap, etc...) and stay near your fishing line. Going back to check it "in the morning" seldom works. Just sane... :^) Saint

Thumbs up- great stuff. But difficult to watch with such poor audio volume. Yes, I turned up my volume to be able to hear. But with so many commercials that play at full volume... it sucked to be blasted with that after having to deal with your volume.

The invasive Pythons have laid waste to the small game in Florida.

Stinkhorn mushroom! Man, they smell of arse lol. Beautiful mushrooms though. They pop up on my land here in North east Florida every so often, I love studying mushrooms as well.

Interesting, I would have thought the flooding would bring out more fish, snakes and alligators to feed. Best wishes, Steven.

Believe me when I say I know about having a hard time finding bait when the river had been flooding. I got skunked big time in the video I made
