A Big Thank you to Mike from SwampFox for reaching out to me, and making this video possible. I was hopeful after enjoying the Arrowhead 1-10, but still cautious. The feel of this overall is a direct reflection of the price point it comes in at. Sub $500 is not a lot of money, but this optic offers a lot of accessories, and performance for this price point. With a 50k round warranty, I wouldnt be worried running one of these on range rigs.

Cool news! I contacted Swampfox and they said they have fixed the issue of the turrets 0 not lining up. The rep said they doubled the number of teeth the turret aligns with so this issue shouldn't exist anymore 😊

What you talkin about Willis? That makes wayy to much sense to actually be a real thing! But I totally agree.. Leupold ALMOST nailed it with the ‘tactical series’ but dropped the ball in the red zone, as usual.. sad. Crap reticles and illumination… not to mention they want like $300 extra for the ‘firedot’… which ain’t that fire! It does rock in the 1-4… gotta admit but still cost wayyy too much.. makes sense tho… if a company did actually do that… it would surely kill sales of the higher end units.. profits yo!
@marvinbrock960

Come on Leupold… Mark 1 Mod 0 with a CDS or Mil lo-pro turrets and or covered, 30mm 3x-9x and a reticle similar to Athlon goodies (floating dot crosshair) based out to 600/800 yards..with basic illumination…. For less than $700… based on VX-2 platform… I know… they’d call it something exotic and stick it at $1600.00… 🤷‍♂️ It almost feels like they hired all the management from Remington Arms circa 1980- RIP… they just sat on their collective far-azzes expecting the company to thrive on the 700 and 870… I mean… how hard could’ve it have been to bring back the Nylon 66! 🤦‍♂️

Great review. Your filming technique is really good at capturing the viewing experience through these optics and I really appreciate how you are able to do side by side comparisons. The Swampfox KL 2-12 is my favorite optic at the moment. I'm glad you touched on the turret cap indexing as that has been my only annoyance with the KL and Arrowheads that I have. So far putting them on the nearest spline and just running it has worked fine, even out to over 1,000y which is all I can expect out of a MPVO.

Thank you so much for your review videos. It has helped me a lot with useful thoughtful information in making a decision on getting an LPVO versus MPVO for a new Ruger 10/22 build (for mulitple position silhouette target shooting at stages between 25m to 100m). I was stuck contemplating between the Meopta Optika6 3-18x50 FFP (MRAD 1), Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 2-12×42 FFP (AHMR2 MIL) and this Swampfox Kentucky Long 2-12x44 FFP (RECCE MIL) for an MPVO, as well as the Meopta Optika6 1-6x24 FFP (MRAD 2 RD), Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 FFP (ACSS Griffin MIL), Primary Arms SLx 1-8x24 FFP (ACSS Griffin MIL) and the Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10x24 SFP (Guerrilla Dot MIL). Since all of these scopes (minus the Meopta) are in the same general price range here in Europe, your video reviews have been a great help to narrow down the decision between - Athlon Helos BTR GEN2 2-12×42 FFP MVPO versus Primary Arms SLx 1-8x24 FFP and Meopta Optika6 1-6x24 FFP LPVOs. Keep up the great reviews! Cheers!

Great review as usual. You've become my go to for optic reviews if I'm being honest. I appreciate how in depth you go and put the focus on looking through the glass in different scenarios as opposed to other "reviewers" that put the focus on themselves shooting with the optic mounted on their gun. 8:18 when mentioning Swampfox's warranty, i remember hearing mike say in a video (it might have been on classicfirearms channel here on YT, or one of their "roundtable" vids) saying their 50,000 round warranty was meant to functionally be a lifetime warranty, they just wanted to put a (somewhat) realistic number on it instead of an "unlimited" or "1,000,000rd" or whatever. It's not like they ask you "did you shoot over 50,000 rounds?" The takeaway i got from it is as long as you don't intentionally destroy it they'll stand behind their product, and i gotta respect that. Still waiting for warhorse though.

Fantastic review! WOW...I am really impressed with this scope! I had been primarily looking at LPVO's because of the magnification range and not because I needed the specific features of an LPVO. I'm not going to be mounting it on an AR style rifle, rather my intent is to mount it on a bolt action rifle to use for target shooting at ranges of 50-200 yards. This scope's magnification range is perfect for my needs and the clarity of the glass and feature set are great with the RECCE MIL reticle being near perfect, for me, too. The LPVO that I had pretty much settled on is the Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10x with the MIL reticle, but in my case this Kentucky Long is probably more appropriate. Although I wish it was SFP, the way the reticle is designed makes it very visible and useable at lower magnifications.

After running the Midas on my cz457 for a month. I stand by the praise given. The turrets return to zero every time when dialing. The zero stop has held. And I've really tried to knock it off zero, abusing my rifle in transit. With seekins matched rings, it's held zero for a month now with weekly trips to the range, being beat to hell.

BIG FAN of this reticle. At first glance it seems cluttered but they nailed that center dot. This is where so many companies drop the ball, even NF with their Mil XT the stadia lines and immediate .2 mil hash marks are just TOO close to the center dot making precision shots a real bitch. It also helps with illumination bc it doesn't wash out the center of the reticle. Swampfox nailed this!!!

The problem with any optic in a 6-10 top end is you never want a 28mm lense. The eyebox and light transmission is poor and a ffp makes seeing anything really bad. For an lpvo I would never go past 6x, 1-4 is the best for an lpvo. You want more than 4 power get a 2-10x40+. Or a 3-9x40+

@joearledge1
@joearledge1 Ай бұрын
2x is fine for close work on relatively large targets. If you're an experienced combatant it should be painfully easy. If not, you might need to train a little on it. For close work, all you really need is the essence of a rapid aiming point, and most professionals do most close work via "point and click" without really aiming at all. Of course, if you just want an excuse to buy a red dot and stap it to your ghetto blaster, then you can do that too.

So what are the real world results between the Swampfox KL 2-12 and the PA GLx 2.5-10 ?? I’m torn between these two, but I’m leaning more towards the Swampfox because of : Recce reticle, brighter illumination, 6x, and lower cost. My concerns are Weight, the turrets, and possibly overall build quality / longevity of the Swampfox.

how much do you have to multiple your low power to get to the high power. 2 multiplied by 6 = 12. You take the low mag range and whatever it takes to get to high mag range. So basically Low x ? = High, solve for ? ...so a 3-9 is 3 x ? = 9, ? would be 3, 3x3=9... 3-15x, would be 5 3x5=15 etc. an LPVO 1-6x is also 6x magnification. 1x6=6

Swampfox is at around the same level compared to the Chinese Vortex Diamondback Tactical scopes with slightly nicer turrets that still don't line up perfectly and looks like they are made at the same factory in China too. They're low end scopes are a cheaper alternative to buying Vortex Diamondback Tactical versions. Their mid and higher end are like the Vortex Venom and Strike Eagle.

I live in the Denver, CO. area where Swampfox is located. I was recently building a long range capable 6.5 Grendel. I was interested in getting a scope other than a Vortex. I've heard the Swampfox name mentioned by some KZbinrs along with Primary Arms, Arken, Maven, Athlon, and a few others. I was very interested because of their🎉 proximity. I was primarily interested in their Warhawk line. I was unable to find anything on KZbin about that particular line. And very little else about any of their other scopes. Except maybe their red dots and LPVO's. I spent a frustrating 3 days trying multiple times a day to get in touch with them. When someone finally answered the phone, he didn't seem very knowledgeable. I found out that they don't have a showroom. Big mistake, I was ready to buy a scope. They don't offer a 20 MOA cantilever mount that I would need either. He directed me to two local shops that supposedly carried their products. I contacted both of them, and all either of them had was red dots and one had a LPVO. To wrap up this long bitch session, I want to say how utterly frustrated I was. I feel that Swampfox's customer service is none existent and I went ahead and spent my money on a Vortex Venom at my local Cabela's. Swampfox needs to step up their game alot!

What really bothers me about Trijicon and SIG are their limited 5 year warranty on their electronics from date of manufacture not actual date of purchase. Doesn't sound fair but their state it black and white. They don't have a real lifetime warranty not on their electronics and illuminated reticles and Bushnell is the wires only one year warranty on their electronics and illuminated reticles in their scopes and people only think they have a lifetime warranty.

Your review did not spend enough time on the primary concern with a scope like this. Let's get real. If your at the counter inspecting a scope with these specs(2-12 FFP) the first and foremost concern will be is the scope useful at the lowest power. We all know FFP at the lowest power setting spells trouble if it is not done right. You showed it looks usable in an enclosed space at the lowest power setting(thanks to the illumination) but what about outside? Does it(illumination) wash out? If left with nothing but the german post is it still useful? I rather have a direct forthright statement on its usefulness at the lowest power setting in not only dark but bright environments instead have having to infer. In fact, this should be a direct unambiguous call out(evaluation) each time a FFP scope is reviewed.

Initial durability of their optics was crap and that really put me off on their products. Would like to see image quality on days that you can't see the summer heat to really show the image watching tis again and actually seeing the annoyance part because I was just listening, can that cap actually come all the way off? if so thats jacked and id rather look elsewhere for an optic. the warranty is hot shit, how will they know for damn sure if I did 50,001 rounds? I would know how they going to know if the optic failed at 10k and say fu no fix? im going to not ever buy anything from them.
