Hey Devin, I like this format, I appreciate the grind of getting on fish. Thanks for your courses, they help refine my thinking and I've adopted alot of really helpful tips from you. They really have helped shorten my learning curve. Thanks for all you do to make us better fishemen!

Capt. Devin, My opinion is the “extended” format is more representative of a fishing trip which I find very enjoyable and informative. Predominantly my fishing is just me dealing with conditions and adjustments to planned trip. Excellent video!!!

Great to see 'the grind' and not the edited 15-minute video of fish after fish. The grind shows the thought process and what goes into finding the fish. It also proves that even the experienced anglers don't go straight to the magic spot. The video may take a while to watch, but I just mark the spot and pick it up the next day. Great video and look forward to future unedited videos.

Capt. Devin, love seeing the complete trip! As a member of LAFB Elite, it is nice to see your teachings in an unedited format. It reminds all of us that even the professionals have to grind it out occasionally. I fished Hopedale on the 17th and this trip reminds me almost exactly of my trip. A couple of trout here and there and when I finished the day at the rock dam I finished my limit. Keep up the great work! I know we all appreciate it!

I hope you continue to doing these videos. I seriously enjoy watching them! We are pretty much from the same school. Your tactics are the forgotten art of using artificial lures. And we were both captains at Ultimate along with running charters. I also decided that I'd much rather fish than cater to fishermen. Keep your line tight, and I look forward to seeing the next one.

I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who has to look at the map halfway through the day to try and find an area that fits conditions.

Absolutely not. What I was looking at on the GPS were spots I already picked out based upon the conditions. I was definitely not looking at 10 year old imagery to figure out where to guess where to go by the seat of my pants. Absolutely not. Hell no. The process to picking out spots to fish based upon the conditions is what I teach inside LAFB Elite. Never would I go to the trouble required to make a video like this without that planning. No way. lol

34:23 i know exactly where you are. I remember this. I was fishing that day with friends and ran into you around Pete’s lagoon. You still had the Pathfinder. We stopped and talked for a few. I remember seeing you and your buddy post a video later that day about slaying white trout in that bend. Great times. Hope to see you on the water again one day.

I really enjoyed the raw video. It made me feel better about myself meaning the struggle is real for even the best. I was out that day and caught prob 100 small white trout. Wind was real. Thanks for that video really enjoyed it. I live in Mississippi and have a camp in Shell Beach. So I come often. Prob more than I can afford to. lol.

Love your videos, brother. Good play showing just how much of a grind it really can be and how you can go through primary, secondary, tertiary, and more plans before you find what’s working. One of these days, I’ll get me a boat and start putting some of the stuff you’re preaching into practice. Until then, I’ll fish where I can when I can. Tight lines and happy belated Marine Corps birthday. Also at 34:57; I remember pulling your pathfinder by the anchor rope while we were wading Breton sound chasing mixed schools under working birds. One of these best days I’ve ever had on the water.

Love both formats of videos tbh. You have a distinct style and while your short videos are good for a quick dopamine rush, these are like the extended release and mimic a day on the water so I'll definitely be enjoying these.

I've been an LAFB elite member for a few years now and my only request would be a course on targeting sheepshead. That is my favorite fish to eat and would like to be able to catch it more consistently. Other than that the courses are perfect for reds and trout.

Capt., I can appreciate the “grind” bcuz it happens. We’re competing against nature on Her terms and that can make it frustratingly fun. Figuring out that day’s challenge is the truest reward. The box of fish is lagniappe !!! Keep the new format bcuz it shows the grind can get real. Right Coach ?

Personally I prefer an unedited video. When you edit out all the fishing time and just leave the catching time people tend to think that fish are being caught almost every cast. Keep it like this and it makes it more realistic.
@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 27 күн бұрын
Most of the time they are caught every cast, every other cast or much faster than what's depicted here. Those trips are much easier to edit for time because there's little need to. Thanks for watching.

@@LAFishBloghaha I heard ya. A little braided line with a safety pin/clip could save you a few hundred bucks + whatever footage is saved on it at the time. As an elite member, I think these long formatted videos are better for your site(people wanting to actually learn), whereas the shorter higher production videos are probably good promotion for your product.

@ During this video I didn’t see him take proper precautions to safely release fish many times! And from what I understand speckled trout are much more fragile after catch and release than several other species! Please don’t take me the wrong way my intentions were in no way to bash Devin in any way it was simply a curious question! I’m not a fan of catch and release at all for the simple fact fish are handled and stressed far too much by anglers, but I also believe in catching only what I want to eat! Enjoy your video’s Devin keep them coming!

@@thomaslonggun2694there were many studies done by Greg Stunz and the Hart Institute on catch and release mortality rate. Devin mentions those studies in his videos. They grossly mishandled fish, wiped their slime scale off, and kept them out of the water for long periods of time. 90% of those trout survived (that % goes up with the skill level of the angler. What they found was as that as long as you don’t gut or gill hook a speckled trout it will survive. Catch and release, even if they aren’t perfectly handled, is extremely effective for speckled trout.
@LAFishBlog
@LAFishBlog 27 күн бұрын
Yeah, those trout are fine. What Cliff said is spot on, and he has caught and released many trout as well. After that, if you want more information then you should read my article about speckled trout discard mortality rate here: www.lafishblog.com/do-speckled-trout-die/ I've tagged and released well over 1,000 speckled trout, and most of those fish would spend hours in the boat with me, waiting in the livewell to be documented and released. They're fine. This whole "sP3cKleD tr0uT DiE" crap was brought on by people resistant to changing the limits to keep the trout from being overfished further. It was never an issue before that. It's a weak argument with nothing to back it up than personal anecdotes that were nowhere to be found before the Freshening. I'll accept all counter-arguments on my website at the link above.

Well, I appreciate the feedback. I did ask for it after all. But you must understand the amount of work that goes into producing those videos, and they hardly get tens of thousands of views over the space of years. If I wanted to put that level of production into content then I am better off telling ghost stories, unboxing toys, reaction videos or whatever other content people watch way more on KZbin. For me to spend two weeks to a month editing something (because that's what it all amounts to, more or less) it had better get v-i-e-w-s and it looks like this format (that took hardly a day to edit and render) is doing just as well at a fraction of the effort. I'd rather put the rest of that time working on content for LAFB Elite (after all, that's what I really do) or spending more time with friends and family. I'm sure you can understand. Thank you for your feedback, and thank you for watching.
