@Rui Dias Everybody's entitled to have a personal opinion of his own but I like the whole album so much anyway. Some excellent songs there and the more folk-like production makes it different from any other Swans album which is another good thing for me, an advantage and not disadvantage. So different than the masterpiece "Children of God", but still very good in its own way. There are not many bands like Swans around who can do it.
@szarzyniecszczurzynski19022 жыл бұрын
@Rui Dias Yes, I agree, especially with that "haunting edge" thing which is exactly what I can hear, feel and truly enjoy in this album. But as I really adore Michael's work as Angels of Light, no album of that group as a whole appeals to me as much as "Burning World". I also see a kind of direction heard on "Burning World" as an essential step in Swans' career for such a masterpiece as "White Light..." to be born. And last but not least, I like to sing and I'm also a low voice type so plenty of wonderful songs for me to sing on this record:) Thank you for the exchange of views, cheers!

Heard Jarboe a month or so ago solo, with an odd drone-couple from Italy; Father Murphy. Some 30-odd people witnessed a very short concert - but she still has an awesome voice if she puts her soul into it.

I attended many Jarboe's concerts and within last several years her concerts started to tend to be very short, which was disappointing and frustrating a bit. Well, more than a bit, as otherwise those were usually excellent shows.

@@szarzyniecszczurzynski1902 I've seen her a few times live and she didn't convince me, I won't go and see her again. She always played quite a lot of Swans songs.
@szarzyniecszczurzynski19023 жыл бұрын
@@wanneske1969 Ok, that's your impression from the shows and nothing wrong with that as for me. But I was present on over ten of her concerts within last almost 20 years period with various material and line-up (or sometimes just her solo), most of them were excellent shows (some of them amongst the best in my live - and I have seen huge amount of various live shows) and she rarely used any Swans material (let alone "a lot") - it was rather like the public often wanted more from Swans period, than she was trying "to live off her Swans legacy":) I have most of her official solo/colaboration work (and there are more "less official" records too on CDRs etc.) and I do not have any doubts how talented and musically open this woman is and what she can do with her voice. If not the live shows then I suggest to give another try to her vast recorded work and there's much to choose from, believe me. Well, I can remember she used to have some health problems in the past and that matter could also affect at least one of her shows I personally witnessed. It was unusual situation but maybe you just hit upon some wrong shows? Anyway, your first statement there above cannot be more untrue and iniquitous. And remember either, it was her who didn't even think about rejoining Swans when they came to life again... Swans belong to her past, she is The Living Jarboe now.

Gira trying his hardest to break it into top 5 , like Depeche Mode , lol , what a " failure " ( no pun intended ) ... he should/ and is ashamed of these times, for sure , premeditatedly doing everything within his grasp to sell out ... actually took him a few years to realize where he actually belonged ... glad to see him getting back on track .
@Jorenanthony6 жыл бұрын
Delhi Delirium that may be accurate about the top 5. The track back is too much right and wrong, however (not to mention formalist). This period of Swans, annexed with the others, is a tribute to the artist’s exploration of the abyss, in search of truth and content. Certainly is fucking brave.
