Swapping a STARK VARG (80 HP) into a Go Kart

It's finally happening. We're taking a STARK VARG electric Motocross (80 Horsepowers, 938 Nm Torque) apart and placing the drive train in a Go Kart. The kart will be fixed up and look amazing once we're done but right now it looks pretty beat up. Let us know your thoughts about this project and leave a like!!

@@critical I don’t have one of those engines, but I think you should try to find one that needs some fixing up and then put it in the frame. It would be the coolest stark ever created.

You should put the battery in the middle where the gas tank used to be. You will get a better center of gravity for cornering. With all that power and all the weight in the back (motor, battery, and most most of your body weight), it isn't gonna steer very well

@critical nothing is impossible, my friend. I put an 80cc 2 stroke dirtbike engine in one of those tiny little Chinese "pocket quads" and a honda 650 v twin in a golf cart. "Impossible" is the wrong attitude lol

@@PennerFab i would have to rebuild the battery or reroute the steering and rebuild whole the front end because the place where the gas tank was is leds than half the size and litterally impossible. Yeah those are common builds, not to downplay it but its been done alot of times

A lot of high voltage cables have a grounded braided sheiding line and another layer of insulation over the inner layer. On nearly all automotive HV lines they are anyway and that kind of looks like a Tyco HV connection. Correct me if im wrong. That is there for your safety. Be really careful with high voltage DC power. One of those lines being live can be deadly. If you know what ends they are you can order HV cables with ends on in most lengths.

I think that chassis will need some extra reinforcement for that instant 900nm to the back wheels though!!! It will definitely flex and brake eventually

@@fleuriejeanpierre No, I didn't mean to argue, I agree with you.. the work Ive done this far is a mix of streghtening and mounting points for the battery-pack, but I'm not sure what the weaker link in the setup is. The frame model is used for KZ racing that run about 50 hp but yeah the torque is in a different league lol. Im working on the engine-mounts now and I'm oversizing them quite a lot in thickness.

Sorry but if Timmie is that good he should know that if you make these kinds of high voltage cable longer you also have to make them thicker. That way of connecting two high voltage cables creates extra resistance more resistance is heat,so possibility of melting the cables. For the shorter distance the original thickness is good enough.

@@criticalDet gör i princip ingen skillnad vad kabeln är klassad för. Arean är det viktiga. Och för att behålla samma resistans i kabeln så måste arean fördubblas om längden fördubblas. På det sättet ni har gjort så har ni bara fördubblat resistansen, vilket kommer att leda till en varmare kabel. Med det inte sagt att den kommer att börja brinna, men den kommer bli varmare jämfört med orginalkabeln.

Putting the battery behind the axle will be a mistake - should go between your legs where the gas tank was. Its going to wheelie like mad with it in the back

@@critical i know that EVERYTHING about how good karts and racecars drive is about the center of gravity. Hanging it behind the axle is the worst place you could put it. Its already gonna make 700 pounds of torque - its gonna wheelie even with the battery in front. So much understeer. Sure you’re not gonna be able to use the same steering mount, but its gonna be worth it to get all that battery weight inside the wheels
