I’m so relieved you don’t know some of the names of colors. My one palette that I use all the time I need to refill 2 pans of them and the tubes are empty. I was silly and rolled them as I used them. I unrolled them to see the names I can’t read it. You make me feel really good. Thank you so much.

Their Delft Blue is very dark. Look at Akkerman Fountain Pen Ink in that color. Girl---if you get excited about watercolors and the color changing and such---fountain pen ink/paper will BLOW YOUR MIND! Sailor Inks like HaHa and 123. Vinta Inks. Krishna and KWZ sheening inks. Eroded Bronze from Birmingham Pen Company--ohhhh will love so many of their inks.

The 2 greens look like Sap Green (the one next to may green, I think) and pthal green blue shade but idk if that's the names lol im new to scminke. Just starting to learn their colors but oh my! I love this palette! These colors are soooo beautiful!

The yellow that you swatched with the missing name could be Transparent Yellow (PY150) I think the blues with the missing names are (from top to bottom): Paris Blue or Phthalo Sapphire Blue, Dark Blue or Indigo and something that looks like Cobalt Azure

I love most of the Schminke colors, especially the super granular.. except for the volcano red and yellow since I find they are hard to use. Thanks for going through all of the colors!

I'd say the yellow might be the Quin Gold Hue, the green seems like sap green to me, and the blue should be either cobalt azure, or even cobalt tourquoise. And my favourites are cobalt tourquoise, Quin Gold Hue, and Purple Magenta (wich is the Opera rose minus the Ultraviolett component). I just love, love, love that triad. Plus I love their potter's pink, because it is easier to get it out of the pan than other varieties. I have been painting with Schmincke from High School time on, and have a few unidentified colors that aren't made any more.

I enjoy your tutorials ❣️🌸❣️ I do have a question regarding the coating used on watercolor paper, and I imagine each brand may differ. I’m curious about arches as that’s the type of paper I mostly use. I was tested positive for serious. Allergic reactions to paper products that have a certain finishing solution on them. I appreciate anybody who may have this type of information. I will never stop water coloring and prefer to do it without having to wear gloves. Thank you.🌸❣️🌸 FYI… even toilet paper, and paper towels are treated with toxic materials.

Kristy, have you considered trying out Rockwell Canada Watercolor? They have whole sets of crazy granulating colors. The sets have names like Charm and Magic. They apparently can only be found on their website. They also have a contract with Baohong and carry both Acadamie and Artists products from that line

I bet that the one after perylene green and before before olive green yellowish is viridian green. 💌

It's definitely PG7 Phthalo Green (Blue Shade), true Viridian is much weaker in tinting strength and not as transparent. It can be confusing since a lot of brands label their PG7 as Viridian -_- I think she may have labeled the actual Viridian (PG18) as Phthalo Green by accident but the unlabeled one is def PG7, especially with how dark it went down at first.

I had every color that they used to make their super granulating line, so I made a palette of just those colors and mix them together when I feel jealous of all the people who can afford the super granulating convenience tubes. It works. Lol!

There’s a huge downside to super granulating… forget mixing colors! Done with buying too much. I like landscape. Windsor’s mini 12, 1/2 pan I get better results than my big Schmincke which are reserved for serious work. To granulate, try granulating fluid then tap the board a little. Happy painting!

I agree that the icy red brown is gorgeous! However, I cannot find that paint anywhere. Any suggestions? Also, looked up 31 purple fish both on etsy and her web site. I don't think she is in business anymore. What have you heard?

The Akademie pastels were limited edition and are sold out everywhere :( 31 purplefish is super active but sells out always. She does drops every Friday I believe?

Kristy, I recently ran across your videos about a month ago and have been watching them almost nonstop in my free time. I love to just sit and watch people paint and sketch, but you made it look so easy that I decided to put aside my misgivings about the 2 single times I tried painting with oil and acrylic paints and give watercolors a try. The problem is that I feel like a kindergartner trying to figure out how to hold and use a fat pencil to write except, with watercolor, I keep running out of what I'm "writing" with and it feels like I'm in a race to get the watercolor down before it all dries! Is there a trick I can try to give a slow learner a little more time? Can I put more water on top of the color that's already dried and still work with it?

@@KristyRice GenCraft 140 lb wood blend paper (I use both sides even though one side is smoother than the other), the 24 set of Mijello watercolors and 6 set of Winsor and Newton (although I'm starting to regret not getting your set because it's hard to mix pastels and lighter colors for florals), and your brushes. I live in the Midwest. It currently can't decide if it wants to be in the mid 50's or cold and wet! I started painting simply because I wanted original art for my walls. I used to sketch florals when I was a teenager a couple decades ago and have since picked it back up with you and one other youtuber and thought if I could just learn to paint, I could put them on my walls! Painting is a lot more of a learning curve for me than sketching!

@@KristyRice be great for swatching color combinations too. Fill a petal in then drop a second color in. Get multiple shots to see which work best. Petals Stylized looks great in values, parts of the petal or bordering petals different values giving depth. Flower swatch is a great idea! Then can even toy around with co ordinating the leaves too. Totally agree on Schmincke color labeling confusion! (((@@))) Went back to a simpler palette as it is color combinations, not singular colors that rock my brain.

Just guessing here, but going by the hue variation between the masstone and the wash, I'd say that mystery yellow was nickel azo yellow PY 150. The other mystery earthy yellow is probably a quinacridone gold hue. I'm betting on the two mystery greens being sap green and a phthalo green. I can't tell if it's PG 7 or PG 36 though. Full disclosure, I have no experience with Schminke, this is just based on seeing your swatches and mentally comparing with other colors from other brands I've seen. *came back to edit the pigment # for nickel azo yellow and the name for quin gold. My brainmeats keep blue-screening on me lately. 😅

It’s a granulating pigment and I do think you might be able to get a pan of it separately. Many Etsy sellers make pans of harder to get tubes

It's just cobalt turquoise/teal (PG50) and potter's pink mixed! You can easily create your own convenience shade of it.
