Just finished watching at 00:38 so just a bit earlier than you! I have had ME (sometimes called chronic fatigue syndrome) for about 25 years and sadly it is becoming more debilitating with very little respite. I fully understand your problems with fibromyalgia as some of the symptoms for both seem to overlap. In fact my GP, back in the days when I could actually see him, said my increased muscle pain was probably a fibro component. Like you, I often find a bit of energy and a clearer mind after 10pm. Anyway, the pencils. I’ve had the set for some time and when I got them I put them in the colour order I wanted in a case. I’ve just never gotten around to even swatching them. I find many things just don’t get done because I just lack the energy and concentration. I’m so glad I found your channel as I find it very relaxing and easy to follow. The pencils come in some amazing colours especially all the different pinks and purples. On its own it could be a bit tricky on more muted colours and greys and pastels but it has some unique colours which is very useful. So glad you reminded me I’d got them. I might have a bit of a problem swatching them as I’ve got them all mixed up! I have got the Ruby Charm swatch book but only got my Holbein I’m slowly collecting in it. Not sure whether I really like it. It’s nice to have all the names printed out and the drawings to try out the various sets but you can’t really compare with colours from other sets. Before I bought Ruby Charm I was going to do an A5 loose leaf ring binder for them. It would take a lot of time to rule up and put in names though which is why I got the book. The black widows will be hard to work out as I have all those in colour order in a case except the monarchs which are for the moment still in their tin. One thing I would say is if you are new to colouring make sure you swatch each new set as you get them - I wish I had!

Oh Julie I completely understand how debilitating it can be. I am in bed most work nights by 8 and have to go back to bed to sleep when I am not working. Great advice and I always swatch my pencils as I get them as I love the process. I too used to do my swatches in an A5 binder but it is so much work that I decided to get the book, which I now love and have on my desk at all times. Much love to you 💖

Oh my gracious, you had me laughing along with you at the snapping pencils. Those were some beautiful colors, weren’t they. Can’t wait to see how you use them in a coloring book. I’m a retired Special Ed teacher and for 20 years, I worked in the administration office. One of our favorite days of the year was the last day of school when all the buses came back to park on the grounds for the summer break. Looking across the parking area at all of the buses perfectly lined up in tight rows meant calmer days were ahead while we finished all the parts of putting the old school year to bed. But we never got much of a breather before it was time to gear up and prepare for the new school year to open. At least the children and teachers were at home on break still so our phone calls and drop-in visitors were few. I understand the feeling of wondering how your children will fare over the long summer break without their support teams. That tells us all how blessed they are to have you in their lives because you care deeply. They know how much you care even if they don’t tell you or show you. They do. I love seeing former students decades later, getting wonderful hugs, and hearing how their lives turned out.

Hi Marsha, it is a really unsettling time for them and we are doing lots of preparation so they look forward to a new school year in September. I am still in touch with some of the students I have worked with over the years who contacted me when they turned 18, some of which have their own families but still think of me and send me the occasional message to keep me up-to-date. It is a very special rewarding role that I wouldnt change for anything ......except more sleep 🤣💖

I'm glad you love the colours, I did too. I did find that they are completely waterproof, and will blend with OMS - but not much else. See the colouring queen video...there are lots of others. I wish you the best of British luck with them, they should be totally gorgeous, they just left me thinking "yes, but..."

Got to the end! But I started, went to work, came home and did a bit more, had dinner, did a bit more, went to bed, got up and finished it! There is something compulsive about watching swatching. It's very relaxing. However, as you got close to the end you started rushing and not going right up to the end and into the corners of the boxes. OMG that's a terrible thing to do to an OCD must fill in the squares completely sort of person. Which I obviously must be even though I didn't realise it because I was groaning at the missed bits of paper. Still fun to watch though, just less relaxing by that point. Lovely colours. Very shiny. Not many colourists use them because of their reputation for breaking and for the fact that they won't blend even though they say they will. Interesting that you think you can get them to layer well with them being that shiny. Looking forward to seeing how they work on different paper. But the flower was looking good on the Amazon paper. I love colouring the designs and images in that book with the designated pencils. It is making the book really pretty.

@@lucyjustaddscolour-adultco3135 This is meant to be funny by the way! You should have seen me twitching! I'm seems I am as careful of my swatching as I am of colouring. Sometimes I ty to keep some white space in what I'm doing, but I rarely manage it. Such mixed reviews out there for these. They makers say they are wax based and they look it. But 6 years ago Lyndsey of the Frugal Crafter reviewed them and said that they perform like oil based. Not only that they layer as you said, and not blend, but that they are transparent too, which is why the white is weedy. She did some comparisons on black paper and it was really easy then to see how transparent they are, like our traditional oil pencils.

Royal blue---yes we are still with you :-), you dear! Back to the video :-D Edit: You're such a pleasure to spend time with!! Those colors are gorgeous, though sometimes the color names were a bit of a surprise. Denim was more like Chambray, but you could see that it would mix to denim with the blending of another blue. It's an interesting set in that it takes it's own technique. Can't have too many techniques in the wheelhouse, so it's a good thing. I hope you got enough sleep after staying up so late!!!

I’ve found the white in the brutfuner black set to be a really good white despite the fact they’re budget pencils. I often wonder why manufacturers have such issues with white when it’s obviously possible to make them. I also think how easy or how much difficulty you have using certain pencils defends on how you colour.

I used to hate them. Some of the pencils just kept on breaking and I was desperate until I somehow got the sharpening right. But even after that I had difficulty getting full colour of them. Then I bought the full set of Polychromos pencils by Faber Castell. And both sets kind of co-operate with my technique. So I use them together, I use Spectrum Noir for lighter shades and Polychromos for mid- and dark shades. This way I am able to appreciate these pencils.
