I love this technique, looks like watercolor 😊… I have done the fleece under the tee shirt. What is your favorite brand of a heavy tee shirt?

girl soda ash burn is a thing but Im learning that as long as it doesn't dry out where the SA is... you're pretty good to go. I could be wrong.. its a learning process.

What makes me doubt the burn… the area where the soda ash would dry out, is where the fabric dries out sooner than the rest of the fabric, limiting the time the dye has to fully set. The little fuzzies stick up and don’t get saturated enough, or they dry out too soon, and then they are more noticeable because they are lighter than the rest of the fabric. I’m not sure which factor is causing the undesired effect. 🤔

Thank you! Do you have to dry procion dye in dryer to set?
@corkylorenz6 ай бұрын
To get the colors to be permanent, you have to use soda ash powder (dissolved in water or sprinkled on top of the ice) with the dye. It changes the PH of the fabric, and makes the reaction happen. Let it all sit for 24 hours. Drying in the dryer won’t hurt it at all, but it’s not necessary to set it. Sorry if that was over explaining, I never know how much info might be helpful. 😅

Do you find a difference in the type of ice you use?

I think the size probably matters but I haven’t experimented to know what bigger ice would do. 🤔

Love the outcome of the sweater but be careful telling people soda, ash is not a thing. I don’t touch a shirt without gloves on after it’s been in soda Ash My hands do break out and blister but that’s just me and Joe over at crapshoot creations. he got a little splash in his eyes and messed them up for a while. once again, love this sweater.😁✌️

Ohhh! I should have clarified! I meant that people talk about sprinkling soda ash onto the fabric as the cause of “burn” on the fabric. I totally agree that it shouldn’t be touched. I never handle anything with SA without gloves. Thanks for mentioning this in case someone else also thought I was talking about skin burn instead of fabric burn.

@@corkylorenz 🤣🤣 totally agree with you on the shirts. I’ve never burned one yet. Thanks again for the video.😁✌️
