Thanks for the nice walks through Stockholm, my favorite city. 😊 Unfortunately I haven't been there for 20 years. But this year I will be happy to conquer the city again. Best regards from Greufswald, Germany.

Wow that powerful golden sunshine doesn't disappoint. Stockholm in it's best form! Very glorious. Very close - to Heaven. It's magical. Thank you for giving me that. I remember those times as well in my past, when the sunlight falling on those beautiful buildings. The feelings when I walked through the city in this light - I don't forget.

The oldest building or one of them is that large church on "Riddarholmen".. Built in the 13th century. Many kings are entombed inside in that church. If you enter inside it you can see them. That island Riddarholmen is also the first place that was built in stockholm during Birger Jarls time of rule.

That little island had a very popular nightclub back in the mid 1980s. I spent a bit of time, and money in that building back then, it was called Galaxy.

Until 17xx it was also kind of a place for amusement. There was no bridge, though, but rowboat taxis. Then the merchant Ström bought it and built a castle-looking house (Ströms Borg). Current building is probably 18xx.

Nice video. We stayed in Gamla Stan at a very old hotel called the Lady Hamilton. It was a great place to stay and we could walk almost everywhere and we were close to the pier to catch a boat over the where the VASA is. I love to shop so it was a perfect place for me. I have some Tomptes I bought at a store called Tomtar and Troll. It looks like they are still in business. All their pieces are hand made and they are wonderful. I see my little buddies every day. Sweet memories from my trip.

I have never loved the City Hall building. I think its stark lines remind me of prison. It just feels like it doesn't jive with the rest of the architecture there. Having said that, I like Sergels Torg even less. It reminds me too much of Oslo

Couldn't agree more. But once you are at City Hall and you stand under it its pretty impressive
@nooshiewest27023 жыл бұрын
The City Hall is now pretty old being built in the National Romantic style - Swedish Art Nouveau - and represents a lighthouse. I think it's a stunning building, but I prefer older architecture! Other buildings in the National Romantic style are Nordiska Museet and Sankt Engelbreks Kyrka. I love those buildings as well!
