Merry Christmas from Louisiana. Louisiana has a unique Christmas tradition. On Christmas Eve 100’s of bonfires are set ablaze along the Mississippi River levees to light the way for Papa Noel (the Cajun Santa Claus). The bonfires are HUGE, some are traditional pyramid shaped, others build elaborate structures in the shape of animals (alligators, fish, birds, turtles…), buildings, memes, farm equipment, cars/trucks…wherever their imagination brings them. The builders, usually families, spend weeks constructing their bonfires.

Frankenmuth, Michigan is a beautiful little town all year round but at Christmas every home/business is fully decorated to-the-max. My Better-half & I always spent the day shopping there on the 3rd Wednesday in October browsing each shop, having a delicious Bavarian all-you-can-eat chicken dinner, then to Bronner's to buy our one hand painted dated ornament = total 31 years worth (Our 1st Xmas as husband/wife 1983 all the way through our last one together before my love went to heaven 2014). Frankenmuth indeed is magical!

Recky and Carol, at 7:57 in the Portsmouth, NH section, it looks they have a luminaria display. This is from Hispanic ancestry, and it's a white bag with sand and a candle in it, then lit--really beautiful. Durango is beautiful in the summer as well. The rail there is the Durango & Silverton RR, which I rode a few summers ago. What a beautiful area of a beautiful state. Technicality here: rather than FRANK-en-MEWTH, Frankenmuth is FRANK-en-mooth. North Pole, AK, is a Fairbanks suburb, and is, more often than not, a few degrees colder than its big brother. St. Augustine, FL, was the first permanent settlement in the USA in 1565. In the Santa Fe section, the faralitos at around 12:05 look very similar to the earlier mentioned luminarias.

Clifton Mills does indeed cover the grounds with lights. That video only showed a few portions. The surrounding areas also decorate. My kids, when young enjoyed going every year when we lived near. Now we are back and this will be the first year to take grandbabies. Most states have many towns/cities that do it full stop, although some are very small that half assing it, is all they need 😉

The tradition our family always does on Christmas Eve is fix hot chocolate & ride around looking at all the beautiful lights, drinking from our mug of hot chocolate. Solvang California is a Danish Village and settlement to promote and preserve the Danish culture, I've never been but would love to go sometime. The other is in Kimballton, Iowa. I only mention Kimballton, Iowa as my dad was born and raised in this farming community, it's packed with Danes (many I'm related to)and it has a functional windmill disassembled, shipped from Denmark, and reassembled by locals (part of my family was involved in this). There is a gift shop located there. There used to The Danish Inn, serving tons of scrumptious foods, but it has since closed due to the economy. Ive been to Branson, MO to what the locals call Steal Your Dollar City as its very expensive to go there but, go you must! It's about an hour and a half away from me, and well worth going to see it at Christmas. (I used to live about a half hour away and went to Silver Dollar City when it was free!) Americans love Christmas and wherever you decide to go would be gorgeous, I'm quite sure. Loved your reactions to this video, thank you for sharing this. Christmas is a magical time of year. ❤🎄

Beautiful video. I love Christmas so much. I think every state has a few special places that really decorate and make the Christmas season festive. In Louisiana we have so many rivers that is is easy to catch a Christmas boat parade. There is a section in Lake Charles called the garden district. Big beautiful home along the lake. There is a carriage ride that lasts about an hour that goes the length of the lake with all the decorated homes. It is absolutely enchanting. If you happen to be in our area at Christmas, we will take you. You won't regret it. Another great reaction.

Solvang -The city's name means “sunny fields” in Danish. Solvang dates to 1911, when a group of Danish Americans purchased 9,000 acres of the former Jonata Ranch. To preserve and promote Danish culture, the founders constructed Atterdag College in 1914 and the Bethania Lutheran Church in 1928.

You two really need to get over here for a visit. It doesn't really matter where because you'll have a great time no matter what. While most towns and cities have pretty good Christmas displays, you need to see some private home displays. People who live within the historic area. must keep all modern things, out of sight. There are no cars, or children running around in jeans. People dress up in period clothing. The decorations are wonderful. No sparkly lights, only candles, and decorations made with dried apples, pineapples, pinecones, cranberries, etc.

You can't go ANYWHERE after dark, the traffic is backed up for miles and miles in every direction. Some houses pre-program/coordinate their lights with radio stations that play Christmas music.
