You don’t mention the blue ocean curly birch handle scales, which for anyone who hasn’t seen it, is absolutely stunning. Function and form in a very affordable package. I own (and use) the Lars, the #10 was an option when I purchased my Lars. I would have had both if finances allowed, but I had to choose one or the other. I’m still that impressed with my Lars that my next knife is definitely going to be another Lars.

We'll be filming a similar short product video for the flat grind models this week, and we will be sure to mention the Ocean handle. You're right, it is a lovely colour! And we're so pleased you like the Lars Fält knife you have!

I have one of these in 14c28n. It's my favourite knife that I own because of the handle ergonomics. I sometimes wonder if I should get a sleipner version as well. What is the difference between 14c28n steel and sleipner other than the difference in stainlessness?
@CasstromSweden7 ай бұрын
The Sleipner version holds its edge for longer and takes a little more effort to sharpen. That is the main difference.

Ocel Sandvik je všeobecně moc přeceňována.

We disagree. Sandvik is not overrated, no - Misunderstood and incorrectly used, yes.

@@CasstromSweden More than 12% chromium with 0.6% carbon makes the steel rather lower middle grade.
@CasstromSweden8 ай бұрын
@@kotyzaano3082 Chromium and Carbon are not the only factors that determine the steel performance. Other alloys and the purity of the steel, manufacturing process and the fine grain structure make the razor steels like 12c27, AEB-L and to some extent 14c28n quite unique. They perform very well for harder-use knives with lower edge angles (in particular when Cryo Quenched) in a way that many so-called super steels can not. In a standard hunting knife, such "super steels" steel can work but not for multi-purpose survival/bushcraft knives.

@@CasstromSweden I have listed these two components to show why I classify this steel as middle class. Of course, Sandvik steel has more components. I will ask further - I saw the knife Joker Montanero Scandi CL135 Curly Birch, Sandvik 14C28N, it is made of the same steel, it has a Scandinavian cut, the handle is the same material and practically the same size as the Caström No.10, but it is half the price. Why do you have such a high price for what is effectively the same knife? I would like to buy the Caström No.10, but I would rather give half the money for what is effectively the same knife at a competitor.And I will also ask about the knife Castström Knife No.10 SFK. One variant is made of tool steel, but the seller does not specify which steel it is exactly, so if you would be so kind as to give me the information and the other variant is Sandvik 14C28N, and then there is the third variant is carbon steel K720. Can you clarify these three versions for me, which is not the best, thank you.

@@kotyzaano3082 I don't know the specifics of the knife you mention but despite the similarities in steel and handle wood I can point to these differences: We Cryo Quench our 14c28n, this is expensive and optimizes the performance of this steel; Our handles have selected curly birch of higher grade; Our fit and finish is very high; Even zero grind; Glued, not just riveted handles; More ergonomic handle shape. Regarding the tool steel it i Uddeholm Sleipner. K720 is no longer being sold. Sleipner hold the edge better, 14c28n is tougher. Feel free to email us and we can discuss more at service@casstrom.se with reference to "conversation on KZbin". I am sure we can find a solution that you will be happy with.
