Fantastic presentation! Thank you. I’m just starting to clean and lubricate an old Husqvarna 30-06. I think it was made about 1964.

I have '91, '93, '94, '95, '96 and '98 Mausers and some derivatives and have found that the 1895s are the easiest to disassemble. Also wearing nitrile or other rubber gloves helps with gripping the extractors since they can be slimy from oil.

Thanks for sharing this . Those of us that own these fine rifles need this knowledge. Very helpful video.

Both are nice but 98 mauser is my choice. It is strong and more safe design IMO. I'm left handed so it's difficult to find a mauser type rifle but these do exist and I use an Ruger Hawkeye left which is somewhat similar in design and I have a left hand Winchester model 70 and regular mauser 98. Big fan of the Mauser for a tough reliable design.

I own a m96/38 from 1900 and I was looking for this video, because I hadn't figured out yet how to correctly disassemble the bolt. Within our gun range people hold a high regard for the Swedish Mausers, and I couldn't have wished (within the regulations of my country) for a better first rifle.

Very instructive. Easy-peasy, lemon squeezy. Kept simple 👍

This video came in handy today. Decided to install my Timney low profile safety today and had everything all messed up. Made myself a block too. Thanks and keep them coming

You got that trigger working? how is it? does it change the safety mode?
@dyouden
@dyouden 9 ай бұрын
@@WildBushGrit it’s just the safety not the trigger. The original trigger was actually pretty good. I wanted the low profile safety so I could lower the scope. Don’t care for the see through mounts I had to use just to get the height. It also moves the safety to the right side to fire. It is only a 2 position safety. It took some work with the dremel but it’s in and works good

@@WildBushGrit it’s also quieter when disengaging the safety. The original flag safety was pretty clunky when flipping it off. Anything close would definitely hear it. This safety is quite a bit quieter. My 98 in 8x57 came with a low pro safety so figured I should do the same for the 96. Also, I picked up a Varberger in 6.5x55 to round out my metric collection. Now there is a well built rifle. The Swedes really know how to build firearms. Too bad they quit doing it

Oh that's really nice, I have a similar safety on my 9.3x64. Except it doesn't work well. Hard to engage, and it will give the impression of being engaged, but the trigger will go off if pressed. No scope on this rifle so I don't mind the flag. True about Sweden but I never heard of Varberger, will look into it. Thx!

If you don't put it in safe when dismantling the bolt, it's called "tyskalåset", meaning "the German lock", referring to the Swedish mauser/CG or Husqvarna.

I've a 1943 M48 A mauser but sadly I did a very bad mistake with it's firing bolt. I saw a video for an old man cleaning the bolt with water and he put some kind of solvent which I thought its a bleach but its not. So I soaked my bolt in a bleach for an hour and guess what happened! I immediately started seeng rust formation on the bolt and I said to my self thats good all the rust is getting out while in fact rust was formating so quickly on the whole bolt. Then I cleaned it but unfortunately the bolt was discolored with balck spots and the worst disaster is that these spots are literally burrs that are impossible to polish 😡 I did my best filing it just to make it move and perform smoothly and its working okay now matter of tact these rifles are really tough and were made to last. The bolt now looks like a damascus steel 😁 but now I knew that bleach damages all metals.

Thanks for sharing 🙏 I didn't know base solution could cause rust, I thought only acid could do that. learning every day. At least you rifle is now unique 😀.

I assume they're the same, but would this also apply to M38 Swedish mauser bolts?
@WildBushGrit
@WildBushGrit 9 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what the M38 is, its a bit hard to follow with all the various version and names and misnamed. At first glance from images on the web, it look like the m38 bolt is very close to the m96, but I could be wrong.
