In the realm of mobile artillery, the Archer Artillery System has emerged as a game-changer, revolutionizing the way artillery units operate on the modern battlefield. This advanced weapon system, developed by BAE Systems in collaboration with the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration, or FMV, combines mobility, precision, and rapid response capabilities like never before.
On Thursday, March 16, the Swedish government recently approved the decision to transfer eight Archer self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine based on an assessment of the country's armed forces. The Swedish government requested that the country's parliament include this as part of an additional draft budget.

I rarely bother correcting this type of mistakes, but there's a first for everything: The system was developed by Bofors between 1995 - 1999. BAE Systems Bofors didn't come into play before 2005, when part of Bofors was bought by BAE Systems, and Archer has been marketed under that name since.

Depending on the target and amount of shots, being able to go from 70km/h to stop, 30 seconds to fire ready and before the shots hit their target you have already packed up and are relocating is insane...

Also add.. If the archer is caught and ambushed, it has a devastating gun on its cockpit, and its main gun can even fire parallell to the ground like a tank... That is some serious firepower i would not want to be on the receiving end of if i was a BMP ambushing it. Because its well protected agains ground troops.

yeah no.... because they are literally doing the opposite of that. they are fucking over Ukraine and they are fucking over Europe. Russia is not invading because they want to take over Russia is invading because USA is corrupting Ukraine and because USA plans to invade Russia. what ever bad feelings you got against Russia you have to have against USA to because everything bad Russia does USA does to but att a larger scale. also USA don't even provide some basic rights to their citizens. not even shit like vacations something even slaves in China has as a law. in the US taking a vacation is a privilege not a right. in the US you make less money working 2 minimum wage jobs + getting food stamps than you do when you work att mcdonalds in Russia. USA justice system regularly brakes UN human rights laws. USA tampered with Ukraine elections, USA is destroying the culture of Ukraine and putting them in massive debt. USA bombs innocent people by the millions during their fake warfare. USA is 3rd world in certain cities and places in the US. and USA forces the poor to pay the highest taxes while giving the rich every single tax brake imaginable. and those taxes go straight in the politicians pocket to. the whole Ukraine war is all about filling the pockets of US politicians not about Russia invading. i'm from Estonia so i understand the stupid hatred my country and other ex soviet countries have for Russia but it's toxic. it's ruining our culture and bringing worthless crappy western culture to us. Russia may not be that good of a country but it for sure is still better than USA and less corrupt than USA. Russia also provides healthcare and shit while USA just spends their taxes on the politicians.

What most channels analysing the archer miss is, that it can fire its gun when it is parallell to the ground just like a tank. So in defence where enemy suddenly appear, or offensive, with open terrain, it is a heavy sniper that can point directly head on enemy. That is a devastating feature outmatching any tank in power.

Scandinavia, Sweden being on top when it comes to military technology, has always produced high-tech weaponry for different purposes. We sending Archer systems to Ukraine means not only that we want to help but we need to dispose of them because we have superior technology over the Archer systems today. And if you've ever watched Discovery channel's "future weapons" program you'll see little Sweden is mentioned many times throughout the series. We even have tech that automatically blow up artillery projectiles mid-air and then automatically fire on the enemy artillery system that was responsible for that said projectile. It's like IRL aimbotting. I'm pretty impressed with how our little country actually produces top 3 military grade systems in the world.

9 rounds per minute, average rate, 21 shells and 6 charges per shell standard load, 30 seconds from last shell fired to packed up and rolling, and from stop to firing. Full refill of one unit in 8 minutes, from a 100-reload ammo carrier using standard 20-foot containers, so any vehicle capable of carrying such can be used. Using an armored Volvo 6x6 dumper vehicle, allows for practically over-the-shelf parts for easy of repair and/or replacement. High mobility, 65-70 kmh on road surfaces, and with a fuel tank allowing for 500 km range between refills. Large tires allowing for varying ground pressure, making it able to deal with a wide variety of surface conditions, from snow to mud to desert sand, much more so than a tracked vehicle, as well as 1 meter water depth when fording. The vehicle is mine-resistant, CBRN-protected, ballistically armored, fire-resistant and the windshields are resistant to shrapnel and medium-level firearms(7.62 Nato). With the combat compartment closed, the crew is protected and self-sufficient for up to 24 hours, and while the standard crew is a gunner, a unit commander and up to 2 operators, it is capable of being run and used by just the one crew member. For self-protection, the vehicle also have a remote-controlled weapons station on the driving compartment roof, capable of mounting a Minimi, FN MAG, Browning .50cal or a Mk. 19 40mm grenade machinegun, and is gyro-stabilized to allow for fire on target while moving. If something that cannot be fought with the weapon station threatens, it carries smoke launchers for cover while withdrawing. In every way a remarkable bit of kit.

Sweden is giving a lesson to many Countries, namely the US which became lost in internal political wars forgetting that there is a decisive real war going on, or Poland which decided to withdraw all military aid to Ukraine - I guess they aim to fight the ruzzians themselves later - or Slovakia who forgot much too quickly that Freedom has a price that must be paid. And there are others. Fortunately there are also noble people like the Scandinavians, the British, the Balts or the Dutch who are doing way more than the rest to keep Ukraine in the fight. This without nukes. But now they have nukes and thus this is just crazy. Unless the plan is to activate more countries to fight the war Russia will win. If they even started to consider that they are losing they will most likely use tactical nukes. Archer and JAS/Gripen are designed for combat like in ukraine. They can be easily serviced, uses any modern weaponry and ammunitions. The same weaponry used on F35s and the cutting edge artilleries in the world. The gripen can land on any road and be pulled into the forest and serviced by a basic team. In combat where anyone will target an airplane at an airfield - you cannot afford to have airfields with your planes stored. With the archer being able to fire its rounds and just leave for deeping into your own territory to reduce the risk av counter battery fire is extremely useful. These types of systems would greatly benefit ukraine.

Oh wait a second they are now going to be defeated because we are sending them leopards, Bradley’s and Amx10 😂🤣🤣🤣 This the the very reason why hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost. The stupidity of western thinking .. the lack of mutual respect (previously this was called Mutually Assured Destruction or M.A.D) that would have lead to a diplomatic solution. It have to be a pretty large UAV to take out the Archer. It have excellent top defense Armour, better than pretty much any tank. Even the cooling system is armored. It have a built in radar for self protection, and a automatic machine-gun. On top of that it have a 50km range, so it can be pretty far from the front line, and its designed to redeploy after every time its fires. So its not like you can just go to where ever it fired the last time and find it there. (this is also true for the german 2000 series). Russian counter artillery battery is pretty much totally useless when Ukrainan artillery redeploy after every fire mission. Ukraine have been trapping them for 4 or 5 month now. With a first level artilery tageting russian post, it move away, counter artilery fire coming in. Counter-counter artillery fire going out. Taking out the russia post that cant redeploy sufficiently fast, counter-counter-counter-artilery goes out, Ukrainian artillery allredy moved. and 3rd way of artillery going out Russia had a HUGE amount or artillery half a year ago, now they have barley anything left.

Drones yes, but there's a matter of range. The Archer fires rounds at 20-50 km away, and a small drone does not have the range or signal strength to even go that far. If the enemy (Russia) has infiltrated into the rear, they still have to call in artillery if they spot the Archers immedietly. Relaying the information, getting it where it needs to be, aiming the counter battery, and the travel time for the shells is significant when the Archer can deploy, fire three shells, and be moving again in one minute.

Just because it's best doesn't automatically score sales. Sweden is a small country and we have countries like the US that use it political powers to sell their stuff that does not come up to the same standards. Same with Gripen vs the F35

Best also usually mean costly to give out to a large army, It is the best but Sweden aims for quality in its army more than anything else becuase we are a small nation. Outfitting lets say USA with the archer would be insanity as it would be far too expensive for them.
@regregan6852

@@sebastian114 not necessarily. Countries like America can afford multiple types so if it was so good then they would buy it and use it in select units not replace every artillery piece in their arsenal. The US has actually trialled archer already anyway. And then there are still a lot of similar sized and equally "rich" countries that can most definately afford the "best", Australia, Singapore and any number of gulf states just to name a few. There are still a lot of countries out there that don't skimp on defence and literally want nothing but the best.

Take that argument and apply it to the F-22? Yes it’s world best wheeled Artillery system, It has not sold that much because it’s quit expensive. The British just bought it though. It’s also purpose built because we (Sweden) don’t have a huge amount of helicopters that can airlift a huge amount of artillery like the US. This wouldn’t make sense under those conditions. Bofors cannons are easy among the best in the world that’s why the US has widely adopted them in ships and planes, ever since ww2. So yes, thats exactly how it works!

a gun that has not found a customer, except of course in Sweden!! too expensive, too complicated, too expensive in maintenance or repairs, too heavy, unsuitable for combat! and for those who talk to me about its armor LOL frankly, if this is the only reason for its superiority to the CAESAR, because the servants are sheltered from its armor, the protection is sufficient only against a small ammunition of 7, 62 mm, by being locked in the cabin, you will not hear the Russian 152 mm ammunition arriving (the whistle which announces the arrival of the artillery ammunition) and there, the armor of the Archer will be totally useless, in being outside, we have a better idea of what is happening around us! and I have pseudo-specialists who also spoke to me about chemical attacks, well join the army, learn like me the basics of protection against chemicals and others, afterwards, you will talk about real things!! anyway, the ARCHER is finished, it is no longer manufactured!! Archer II arrives
