Yes, Sweet is DEFINITELY worth diving into. They had quite a few hits. Little Willy, Wig-Wam Bam, Ballroom Blitz (my personal favorite) and Love is Like Oxygen are all great.

I heard Steve Priest, the bass player, say this song is about waking up next to a groupie, and wanting the chew your arm off to get away. :) The world is a little less interesting without these dudes. I dont think these guys get enough credit for what they did. They wore makeup (David Bowie told them to tone it down a bit) and played bluesy riffs and sang high harmonies before metal was a thing. Their song Sweet F.A. is the thrashiest pre-thrash thing I've heard in a good while. Their drummer is just awesome. Ready Steve? Andy? Mick? Alright fellas, lets gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Sweet is definitely worth diving into! In addition to this great song, there is: Little Willy, Ballroom Blitz and Love is Like Oxygen All top 10 hits, and all unique bangers. I believe this song was from around 1974. All the hits mentioned above span from around 1973 to 1978.

Their album Desolation Boulevard (American Version ) is well worth getting into for a reaction...It has to be the American Version album ,The British version has a different song line up ..There are some dope ones on that like '' Sweet F A''', ,....Another good song is ACTION and every body knows Ballroom Blitz . There are many sub genres to rock, & they fell definitely in the *Glam(Glamorous) Rock* category......They were very popular, although, I don't think were appreciated as much as they should have been! I love this band, & they have many great songs in their catalog 😊

Great reaction Biz! The Sweet was produced early on by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Look those guys up. They produced and wrote songs for scores of Pop, Glam, Power Pop and emerging New Wave legends in the mid to late seventies. Sweet had a string of HUGE hit singles, as everyone below has mentioned, but Chinn and Chapman insisted on (Chinn-Chapmann penned) poppier tracks for the A-sides of their 45 rpm singles, which frustrated the band. They really wanted to be taken seriously as a hard rock outfit, as songwriters in their own right, so you sort of have to dig into the deeper album cuts, and ESPECIALLY the B-side cuts, to hear the band they wanted to be. Not that the hits aren't great too, but they are only part of the story. The deep cuts are the soul of the band. Some suggestions... "Need A Lot Of Lovin’ " is the B-side of "Blockbuster" and it's killer, with a fat, relentless driving bass line. "Set Me Free" from the "Sweet Fanny Adams" LP actually predicts a little bit of the late-70's New-Wave-of-British-Heavy-Metal sound, and in fact was later covered by NWoBHM pioneers Saxon! "Windy City" from their "Off the Record" is a riff-machine, with tuff-as-nails lyrics and a shredder of a lead solo. "Man From Mecca" is a piledriver of Heavy Psych, with a chunky groove. "Burning", the B-side for "Hell Raiser", slightly reminiscent of Zeppelin's "The Immigrant Song" in its groove-heavy approach. Dig deep my friend, there is a goldmine in this catalog. P.S. : Pro-Tip. The B-side of a single is almost always more interesting than the A-side!
