Simple play-along for drummers looking to drill and solidify their basic shuffle groove, and basic triplet based fill to compliment it. Shoutout to all viewers and channel members that have requested this type of vid, which recreates the sort of drills we do in face-to-face sessions on two drum kits :) Notation on practice-along notation formats on the channel members' page, here: www.buymeacoffee.com/mikebarnesdrums/notation-practice-along-for-sweet-home-chicago-shuffle-drill Other videos relevant to this... The Shuffle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3-bdGaons-Wftk Building up a shuffle groove: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIjPf3aOnN-anc0 What are triplets?: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZLcoaiXjsuBaMk Just a note about the on-screen notation - To save space I’ve just notated one bar of groove and one bar of fill. As I say in the vid though, the idea is to play three bars of groove followed by one bar of fill throughout. In the third bar of groove btw, feel free to leave off the very last hi-hat hit on the “+” of beat 4 to faciliitate getting smoothly into the drum fill if you like. Hey Mike. I'm a 67 year old who always wanted to be a drummer. I can sit and watch you all day. The way you smile and play with such ease is an inspiration. I just wish we had the internet back when I was younger and could have learned from yourself.

Very cool Michelle! Thanks for watching and glad you dig. Just a reminder if I may that what we're doing here isn't playing the drum part from the song as such, we're using the song as a backing track to drill our basic shuffle groove and basic triplet fill. Cheers! :)

Hi all, just to be super clear, this vid is a groove and fill drill along to this song, rather than how I would actually play this song in real life! I wouldn't play as many fills when actually performing the song! Cheers! :)

Love it Mike.I'm 76 (!) and restarted to play in a friends rock band after 50 years. Your lessons are wonderful and easy to understand. Thank you and, when possible, try to add the PDF, even if it should cost some euros. Thank you, friend.
