Depends on who she pre-gamed with/made alliances with. She probably would've been with the old-schoolers, so a pre-merge boot likely.

I like how the first two winners were strategically dominant (Richard and Tina) while the first two runner ups were physically dominant (Kelly, Colby)

One of the most ingenious winners in terms of the circumstances and conditions at the time. Richard Hatch, while was successful in Borneo, was hated by the public for his arrogance and his use of the alliance and strategy to win the game. Coming into Outback, Tina wanted to win, but she didn't want to be hated by the public like Hatch was at the time. So she had to play REALLY carefully so that she would be able to make the right strategic moves and simultaneously prevent the viewers from hating her for using strategy and alliances, and she did so PERFECTLY. From scrambling with Colby/Keith off camera on the way to tribal to blindside Mitchell and covering this up by calling him the "weakest person" in her re-vote confessional for Mitchell, to flipping Ogakor on one of their own; Jerri, to benefit her alliance of Keith/Tina/Colby at the final 8 but covering it up by saying Jerri's mean and rude, Tina managed to dodge so many reputation bullets AND strategic bullets in the game, and in the end she managed to win with a good strategic game (one that was more complex than Hatch's game) whilst maintaining a good reputation. Because of this, Tina remains one of my favourite Survivor winners of all time. A shame she wasn't on Winners At War. :(

People like to call her win was a fluke but I don't see anybody in the top 5 from that season beating her. Colby was kinda dumb, he is great at getting to the final. He doesn't know how to win and it shows on his upcoming seasons as well. Elizabeth was too young to be as as sharp as Tina. I doubted Keith or Roger can answer as eloquently as Tina at the tribal council as well. She played a really great game to me. Keep yourself out of threat & be as nice as you could to everybody to win votes during the final tribal council.

I was 10 or 11 when this aired and I remember my family all wanting her to win because she was from our state. 😂 We’d watch it together every week, the one night we didn’t eat dinner at the dinner table, true appointment television. I was once grounded for a month and couldn’t watch tv except for one hour a week. I picked Survivor. I was so glad I didn’t miss the flooding where the rice got swept away! We were mindblown that someone from our state did so well and got so far, then at the finale the idea of it being LIVE was INSANE. We were confused and excited and, finally, thrilled that she won. I’m rewatching the whole series because I’m going through some health issues, and it makes me think of those time with my family, before my Mom died, my brother moved 1,000 miles away, and my Dad remarried. It’s good to go back and remember how much Mom hated Jerri and to see that yeah, Jerri could really be THAT unlikeable. 🤣 It’s fun to watch the videos as I go through the seasons, just going deeper into it, and will be helpful when the seasons with repeat players come up. Keep rocking!

In the same episode where Varner talks about Tina, he says that she ended up finding out Jeff was the one with the vote against him because she simply asked Kimmi the next day who Debb had voted for. That was crucial to getting the majority, otherwise michael's fire incident might not have been as big of an impact. Ogakor didn't have to guess who to vote for where Kucha had to guess Colby
@RankopediaHarvey2 жыл бұрын
Yes, this was huge. Even bigger was Tina's sacrifice of immunity to Keith to protect him since he was vulberable to the vote. It was the second most crucial move in the game. The first being Colby's taking Tina to the FTC.

Nice vid! I especially enjoyed the section on Final Tribal Council, which illustrates why Colby lost really well. Going into FTC either Colby or Tina could have won. However, Tina came through and Colby screwed it up, which you clearly show here (and probably in the Colby-video as well) I like how you added more clips from the show for context, compared to the video on Rich. That makes the video run smoother, and makes it easier to process your analysis. There's a minor mistake in the FTC when you say there is a tie with 4 on 4, while it's actually 3 on 3. But overall this is a great analysis of the story of Tina Wesson!

@eagerturtle47915 жыл бұрын
I think some hardcore fans want to think that Tina completely controlled the game, and was purposely hiding her deception way better than Hatch (using the good guys attitude as an excuse to flip on the players who weren't loyal to her). I still don't know how much of it was strategy, or how much of it was luck. She often contradicted herself and her strategy in confessionals and at final tribal council, and in neither of her other two seasons did we get a good sense of her being a strategic mastermind. In Allstars, she was voted out first before she could even do anything because of her winner target, and in BvW, she just tried to stick to her pre-game alliance until she got blindsided by Gervase/Tyson/Monica. I think she played a good game and was socially in the middle of a lot of the alliances, but some of the fans give her way too much credit IMO.
@OnceUponAnIsland5 жыл бұрын
I 100% think she excels at the social game, but clearly not in challenges. Colby gave her credit as the strategic mastermind and I wish I knew who ultimately decided on getting rid of Jerri and Amber as that would reveal a lot about who was running that 3. Colby was an apology to Jerri and not turning on Keith from winning this 5-2, but he blew it and she pounced.

@@charlestoti2252 I completely agree. Even though Colby botched that final tribal, Keith had nothing on Colby.
@jacklewis86954 жыл бұрын
It definitely wasn't luck. She is strategic but also plays from her heart. She is your classic card game-playing baby boomer mom. Playing cards was much more common for that generation compared to those since (at least compared to Millennials, not sure about Gen X), and if you grew up in a card game-playing household, which I did, you would know that it sharpens & trains your mind to think on a decently strategic level- plus just makes you a competitive person in general. I think Tina embodies all those things: decently strategic, competitive, but also a nice, sweet mom. I agree that she herself is NOT a strategic mastermind nor purely as intellectual as Richard Hatch, but this was only season 2. For that time with strategy being so fairly new to Survivor, I would argue that RELATIVELY she was a strategic mastermind. She knew enough early on that she had to convince Colby to vote out Mitchell, because she would been on the bottom of the tribe going forward if Keith would have been eliminated instead. She also purposely didn't wait until all of Kucha was eliminated before targeting Jerri & Amber, which effectively forced Colby to go with her. Problem is, that as the show & the strategy evolved over time, she didn't evolve or get any smarter, which made her look worse in her subsequent seasons. But solely looking at season 2, she was brilliant!
@bigbuffguy95893 жыл бұрын
Tina is a good player, but her reaction to Aras getting voted out (with her own demise clearly imminent) was really hypocritical after the way she played in Australia and particularly her opening statement at Final Tribal Council. There, she said that people shouldn't vote based on having their feelings hurt. Fair enough, but after the Aras blindside, she petulantly said that the other side would never get her and her alliance's votes. Of course, if all three make it to the end, they have to vote for one of them.

I just got to the Jerri vote, and I have to say that this was a really stupid move by a future Survivor winner in Tina. She blindsided Amber at the same time, and if Amber was a better player, she would have flipped to the Kuchas, and then Tina would be voted out immediately. At least in Colby's case, he could go on an immunity run, which he did. If Amber flips, it's likely either Colby or Nick wins the game. I think that voting out Jerri before the last of the Kuchas (in this case, Rodger) would be fine, but Tina was lucky to get away with this reckless move.
