Very helpful. If you go to most restaurants in Korea and you ask to not put any meat, they will almost always give you a funny look like.."Wait...you DON'T want any meat??" as if they thought you made a mistake

By definition, vegetarians do NOT eat fish. If they eat fish but don't eat red meat or chicken or pork, s/he is a pescaterian. Don't call them vegetarians.
@therisashow7 жыл бұрын
You're definitely right, but at the same time, the use of "pescatarian" is fairly uncommon worldwide, and especially places where English isn't the main language. I grew up vegetarian, and when we went to eat at a friend's house they would often ask if we ate fish or not because in MANY cultures (especially Eastern Asian, but even Caribbean culture), fish is not considered a "meat" the same way that chickens, cows or pigs are. So people who eat mostly vegetarian and some fish are considered to be vegetarian in their culture. In the Caribbean, vegans are often thought to be Rastafarian because they are the main influencers of the vegan diet there. I.E. Your definition of Vegetarian vs Pescatarian is a new concept that only gained popularity in the last 15-20 years.

I know. I hate it when people call themselves vegetarians and they say, "But I eat fish." Wtf?!?!? LOL
@돔동-p1x5 жыл бұрын
huh?? I thought vegetarian includes vegan, pescatarian, lacto-ovo vegitarian. Don't you mean they can't cal themselves vegan?
@CuracaoCow5 жыл бұрын
@@돔동-p1x No. Vegans- Don't eat, wear, or use ANY animal products or byproducts, ie, they don't eat ANY meat, dairy, eggs, honey, or ANYTHING that comes from an animal, is made from an animal or is made by an animal. No fur, no cosmetics that were tested on animals, NOTHING. There are three types of vegetarians: Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians: Do not consume ANY meat but will eat dairy and eggs. Lacto-Vegetarians: Do not consume ANY meat but will eat dairy and not eggs. Ovo-Vegetarians: Do not consume ANY meat but will eat eggs and not dairy. Pescatarians: Eat fish but NO other meats. May or may not consume eggs or dairy. Hope that helps.

I'm pescaterian because I have an iron deficiency so I have to eat it but i try to eat it as little as possible. But I always refer to myself as vegetarian just because it's easier and a thing more ppl say. Also again I don't want to eat fish very much

I have a question. I have been taught that 는/은 are used when you are describing or explaining about the noun, and I thought that maybe using 를/을 before 빼주세요 would be correct because the noun is receiving an action. So I was wondering if what I had been taught was correct or not. Could someone please explain this to me? X)

A meal w/o meat is not complete? There are so many Korean dishes w/o meat. Surprised that Korean people have that point of view. My mom is Korean and she thinks we need to eat meat to live. When I became vegan, she kept telling me I would die (out of serious concern for me). But it's just surprising to me bc, there are so many plant based options. What is super hard to avoid in Korean food is fish though! Even kimchi is made w/ fish (which it took me a while to learn) so it's not vegan. And lots of soup bases and sauces use fish to flavor them.
