My favourite is inulin, I know, I know, it isn't exactly the sweetest and is more of a soluble fibre, but hey, I can always use more and feed my good microbiome. On allulose, I'm still on research level. Im still trying to make peace with being mostly derived from corn crystalline fructose. And yes, it seems really good, it isn't really giving insulin spikes, and our body seems to be unable to process it. But, for now, i stick with inulin. I do love your posts, and you have a massive impact on my health choices. Thank you!

Allulose is quickly absorbed and excreted, but isn't metabolized by the body. Because it isn't metabolized, allulose doesn't increase insulin or blood sugar levels, isn't stored as fat and won't promote weight gain like sugar does.

I am guessing, then, that you should stay away from the Coconut flour. I am doing Keto-Carnivore and so no flour of any kind in my diet now. Any noun suffixed by -ose is a sugar, e.g. glucOSE, fructOSE, allulOSE, sucrOSE etc. Any noun suffixed by -ol is an alcohOL like ErithytOL. Becareful with sugar alcohols because the intestinal bacteria feast on them and therefore multiply and grow, causing gut issues if too much. It is possible, I am guessing, if you eat too much sugar, even Allulose, the gut bacteria also multiply and grow by them feasting on that, causing gut issues if too much. i put Allulose in my coffee, 2 to 3 teaspoons, and no gut issues.

Wow! That's great news because I've been using Allulose for several years. It's expensive but to me it is my go-to replacement for honey, which I love, and I've used all my life until I switched over to Keto. However, since I reached my target weight and have kept off the excess pounds for a year and a half, I've added honey to my Allulose to give it a better honey-like flavor for my coffee when I want a dessert drink with milk. I bought the Allulose with the 'honey' flavor added but it had a terrible chemical aftertaste. Even worse in coffee. It was even more expensive than necessary too. Corporate Rip-off if you ask me. So, I made my own. By using actual unfiltered honey to flavor my Allulose, I can enjoy the flavor of honey and the benefits of Allulose. Sparingly, of course. One tablespoon of unfiltered honey in an 11-ounce bottle of Allulose will do the trick adequately. I get the honey flavor without the glucose spike!

I'm surprised you put Stevia below Molasses which has a glycemic index of 55 as opposed to 0 for Stevia. I'll have to do research on Stevia and damage to gut biome. This is a first for me. As for the bitterness, Sweetleaf brand mixes it with inulin (fiber) to tame it quite well. I have found that using a very, very, very small amount of 100% stevia is still very sweet yet, not bitter. If I use too much, it becomes bitter. You need to find the fine line with it. Anyway, I guess I'll look into Allulose.

Xylitol works best in a good chewing gum or mint form (in frequent small amounts), not so much as an ingredient within food as a sweetener since there are side effects going over 9g (can also raise risk of clots) unlike sugar in fiber-rich whole fruit, so kind of a mixed average.
@jesusjones30145 ай бұрын
You only need 6 to 10 grams max daily of xylitol for teeth/mouth benefits. At 10 grams (4 to 5 pieces of gum sweetened with xylitol) can give you gas. That's why it's a C rating. Not really practical to use more than a few grams at a time. Double that too 20 grams in one sitting & you might have an upset tummy with lots of gas etc. For mouth benefits you usually would chew 1 to 2 pieces of xylitol gum after each meal for about 10 minutes (chewing longer might wash the effects away) I do 1 piece of gum after a meal 4 to 5 times a day.

Thank you for your videos, Dr Gundry! I have a question. I have a problem with fructose. Does monk fruit contains fructose? Thank you ♥️
@GundryMDYTАй бұрын
Hi there! Thank you so much for your kind words and for being part of our community! ❤️ Monk fruit is a great alternative sweetener, and the good news is that it does not contain fructose. It's derived from the monk fruit and is primarily made up of compounds called mogrosides, which provide sweetness without the sugar content. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask! We're here to help! 😊

Thank you for your highly informative video Dr Gundry. I was disappointed rice syrup scored such a low score. I was of the understanding the process of fermentation reduces the impact of lectins. As rice syrup is made by the fermentation of either white or brown rice and the sugars produced do not contan fructose, I thought it was a reasonable alternative to white sugar if used in moderation. Also could we pressure steam the rice syrup to deactivate any remaining lectins?

Allulose is 70% as sweet as table sugar. In order to bring it up to 100% as sweet add 30% more than what the recipe calls for.

I have been using monkfruit, stevia and Manuka honey but I’m going to rethink the last two and try blackstrap molasses. I’m having trouble funding Allulose unfortunately.

@@GundryMDYT Thanks for the reply. This is not a brand it's a substance/type of sugar. Dr Gundry did a video on it a while back but did not address these concerns not any impact on tooth decay. Still would love to see him comment on this in the future.

I found a liquid allulose, does that. Does it matter if it’s powder or liquid?
@GundryMDYT2 ай бұрын
Great question! Both liquid and powdered allulose can be used in various recipes, but they may behave slightly differently depending on what you're making. Liquid allulose can be a great option for drinks or sauces, while powdered allulose may be better for baking or dry mixes. It really depends on your personal preference and the specific application you're using it for. We hope that helps!
