In her new book, Sweetie Pie's Cookbook: Soulful Southern Recipes, from My Family to Yours, she brings it all together: family stories about growing up in Mississippi and St. Louis, the hectic years as an Ikette, and her life as a restaurateur and star of popular reality show Welcome to Sweetie Pie's.

Dear Miss Robbie, Thank you. I am a German immigrant who moved here at 15. My mother cooked for us five children every day. She had learned to cook from her mom and as the oldest daughter you know I did everything, babysitting, and lots of cleaning.😉 I also did a lot of gardening since my mother was a passionate gardener. Now the kicker: My parents had a restaurant for years. My dad ran a German deli when we lived in New York, so I got to work weekends, too! Children often work in the family business. Anyway, thanks again.😘

Miss Robbie said something that is so true, about not being afraid of sharing her recipe, because just because someone cooks a certain way, that same recipe may turn out differently for someone else. By her saying that, I instantly thought of my mother who was the best cook, to me. She had taught my two older sisters how to cook, all of her recipes, and me being the youngest she never made me cook, they just let me play outside, and I LOVED that, lol. Unfortunately when I was grown and out on my own, I didn't have their cooking skills, and thank God, the man in my life, cooked well, and did most of the cooking. My mom passed away, and I deeply regretted that I hadn't been in the kitchen, as a child, learning her recipes, though I recalled every dish, and tried to emulate them, there was never my mother's touch, to it. So I really said, the secret to my mom's cooking was, mom cooked with love. I just recalled how she handled food like she was cooking for kings, and queens, opposed to how I hurriedly try to throw something together. Even her coffee, was delectable and before she died, lots of mornings, me and my daughter inlaw, would go by her house, just for some of her coffee. And since she's passed we talk about how we can't seem to duplicate her coffee. From my memory of my mom, I am cooking a little bit more like her now. I was really pleased when my gravy was tasting like her's, because I also remembered some of those morning, we went by for coffee, she had made chicken n gravy, and I could eat a whole skillet of that gravy, lol, but of course I minded my manners and said, I had enough, but my insides was screaming, More, More, lol. I'll always love my mama,❤. And I love you too Miss Robbie,❤, because you have a good heart like my mama.✌🏽❤🙏🏻🌷🌲🎵💃🕺

I stumbled into this interview today 9/5/2020. Miss Robbie was what I needed today during this pandemic. I have so many projects on the back burner, I mean for years and I'm right at the brink of making things happen. That stumbling block called fear has been keeping me from going forward. I write children's books, I have three manuscripts completed but I just can't seem to write the query letters. That's an easy task, and I know God doesn't give us the spirit of fear but it's there. Miss Robbie has given me the inspiration to take the leap and go forward, I'm going to do this. Before I stop writing, I must say that I'm such a fan that I've always called my g-granddaughter "Sweetie Pie". Thank you Miss "Sweetie Pie" for being a Blessing to me.

You saw the "For Lease Sign" "I worried the Lord to Death" I have a dream to sell lettuce mixes and I am at the stage where I'm learning there are codes:-( I have to plant (15)' from the curb. Who knew? lol. I have to pick up the cardboard that I laid to improve the soil:-( It's called debris? I spent the day picking up coffee filters. Many i dug and planted. I picked up sheets of cardboard:-( Although I know this is what the soil needs I need to be in compliance with the code.
